  2. Selby takes on Lawro

    Football

    Mark Selby

Reigning world snooker champion Mark Selby has taken time out from his title defence at the Crucible to pit his wits against our own Mark Lawrenson.

Selby, a Leicester City supporter, is Lawro's opponent for this weekend's Premier League predictions.

Unsurprisingly he believes his beloved Foxes can make it four wins in a row when travel to Burnley on Saturday.

Read the rest of his and Lawro's predictions here.

  3. England steady the ship

    Cricket

After losing Alastair Cook and Ian Bell within five runs, England are now moving along slowly but steadily in Grenada, reaching 191-3 against the West Indies.

The deficit to the Windies is down to 108 in the second Test. Follow our live text commentary here.

  4. Newcastle link disrespectful - McClaren

    Football

    Steve McClaren

Derby boss Steve McClaren has called the speculation linking him with Newcastle United "disrespectful".

He says his focus remains on getting Rams, currently fifth in the Championship, promoted to the Premier League.

The former England boss said: "At the present moment I am the Derby County head coach and will remain so until things change. So, let's get on with the job. My goal is to get in the play-offs and do as well as we can."

On the reports linking him with St James' Park, McClaren added: "I haven't got a clue if I'm a candidate for the Newcastle job.

  5. Portsmouth approach for Cook

    Football

BBC Radio Solent sports editor Adam Blackmore on Twitter: "It's our understanding that Portsmouth have made an approach to Chesterfield to speak to their manager Paul Cook about vacant job at Fratton Park."

  6. Daggers boss Burnett extends contract

    Football

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett has signed a new two-year deal with the League Two club.

    Get Involved

Inspired by our feature on the history of the sports bra, we asked for details on your treasured pieces of sports kit:

Do you have a lucky jockstrap, a best pair of boots or an unbeatable bat? If so, then let us know using the hashtag #vitalkit on Twitter or via text on 81111.

  8. Stockholm Marathon U-turn

    Athletics

Stockholm Marathon organisers never intended to "discriminate" by awarding prize money only to Nordic athletes, according to a race spokesman.

The decision has now been overturned - the race takes place on 30 May.

It was hoped the new format would be an incentive for Nordic runners, with the men's event won by an athlete from Africa in each of the past 13 races.

"We were quite naive, we didn't foresee this kind of criticism," Lorenzo Nesi told BBC's Sportsworld programme.

  9. Bell bowled for one

    Cricket

It was a short and not very sweet stay for Ian Bell in Grenada - the England batsman has just been bowled for one.

Once again, the bowler was Shannon Gabriel, who dismissed Alastair Cook just a few minutes ago.

The tourists are 164-3 in reply to West Indies' 299.

Joe Root is the new man in. Click here for our live text commentary.

  10. Quartet to miss PGA Championship

    Golf

Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Paul Casey will all miss next month's PGA Championship at Wentworth, the European Tour have announced.

The West Course was redesigned by four-time major champion Ernie Els in recent years and the changes have not met with unanimous approval.

It has never been a happy hunting ground for Stenson, Garcia or Poulter but Casey, who is based in the United States, won the PGA Championship in 2009 and also lifted the World Match Play title at the same venue in 2006.

  11. England lose second wicket

    Cricket

England skipper Alastair Cook is still awaiting his first Test century since May 2013 after he was bowled by West Indies' Shannon Gabriel for 76.

The tourists are currently 160-2 in the second Test in Grenada with Ian Bell joining Gary Ballance at the crease. The Windies made 299 in their first knock.

Follow our live text commentary here.

  13. Astana keep their licence

    Cycling

Some breaking news and the Astana team will be allowed to compete on cycling's elite circuit in 2015 after the International Cycling Union (UCI) backed down from a bid to ban them.

The UCI asked its licence commission to revoke the Kazakh-based team's World Tour status in February.

This followed a string of positive doping tests at the team and its development squad last year.

But Astana and UCI lawyers met on Thursday to agree a deal that sees Astana, who employ 2014 Tour de France winner Vincenzo Nibali, keep its licence.

  14. Hazard most important player - Ivanovic

    Football

    Eden Hazard

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic says team-mate Eden Hazard has "made a difference in very game" as the Blues close in on the Premier League title.

Ivanovic, Hazard and skipper John Terry have started all Premier League games this season and the Serb, 31, believes the Belgian has had "the best season of his career".

He added: "All season he has got a lot of kickings but he never complains. He's a hard worker on the pitch. He's improved massively from last season and for us he has been the most important player.

"He's the guy who when you pass him the ball you just have to leave him alone. He will do everything. He's something different."

  15. Win at all costs for Foxes - King

    Football

    Andy King

Leicester midfielder Andy King says "everyone is so confident" and there is "such a good buzz" at the club after three successive wins gave the Foxes a chance of staying in the Premier League.

They have moved off the bottom to 18th, below Hull only on goal difference, and travel to new basement club Burnley on Saturday.

"We don't want to be in the bottom three come the end of the season so it is a win at all costs situation for us at the moment," King told Leicester's website.

"They're going to be trying to make it hard for us and we know they need the three points as much as us, so it'll be a tough game."

  16. Koeman warns players over transfer talk

    Football

    Ronald Koeman

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has warned his players not to let transfer speculation distract them in the final month of the season.

Koeman held a team meeting on Thursday following a national newspaper story linking Saints midfielder Victor Wanyama with a summer move to Arsenal.

Wanyama dismissed the story and Koeman himself said it had no foundation.

"From Victor's part it is all rubbish and he never said that. I believe that," Koeman told BBC Radio Solent.

  17. Meekings ban dismissed

    Football

    Josh Meekings

Inverness Calednian Thistle defender Josh Meekings is available to play in the Scottish Cup final after his one-game ban was dismissed.

Meekings contested the one-game ban 'offered' to him by the Scottish FA's compliance officer for a supposedly deliberate handball to prevent Celtic's Leigh Griffiths scoring in Sunday's semi-final at Hampden.

Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron said: "The result means that the club can now fully appreciate the achievement of reaching it's first ever Scottish Cup final and focus on preparations for Saturday's game versus Aberdeen."

  18. Oyston denies FA charge

    Football

Blackpool FC chairman Karl Oyston has denied an FA charge of misconduct relating to a text-message exchange with a club supporter.

Oyston is accused of five breaches of FA rules, including using abusive and/or insulting words.

  19. England on top in Grenada

    Cricket

    Alastair Cook

It's been a good morning for England on day three of the second Test against the West Indies, as the tourists have gone to lunch on 145-1.

Opener Jonathan Trott is the only man to fall so far today, edging leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo to Jermaine Blackwood for 59.

Captain Alastair Cook (67) and Gary Ballance (7) will be at the crease when play resumes with England 156 behind West Indies' first-innings total of 299.

  20. Maloney returns to boxing

    Boxing

    Kellie Maloney

Kellie Maloney is returning to boxing as a promoter, less than a year after announcing she was undergoing gender reassignment.

As Frank, Maloney was one of British boxing's most high-profile promoters and led Lennox Lewis to the world heavyweight crown.

And after unveiling two new charges in London on Thursday, Maloney thanked the boxing fraternity for its support.

"It's like starting all over but with 30 years of knowledge," she said.

  21. Hamilton and Vettel grilled

    Formula 1

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are used to do everything quickly. So answering quick-fire questions with BBC Sport's Lee McKenzie at the Bahrain Grand Prix didn't prove any problem. However, the answers were revealing, including that a toy given to Hamilton's dog Roscoe by Vettel might have actually cost him a race.

  22. Garry Monk press conference

Newcastle United v Swansea City, Saturday, 15:00 BST

Garry Monk says he is looking forward to the Premier League game at St James' Park on Saturday.

"We've done well there in recent years, and it's a great place to play your football. The pitch is great and the crowd are great, but it is a tough place to go," he said.

"Newcastle will want to bounce back from recent results. They are a really talented side with good attacking players, so we will be aware of that.

"They have strength in wide areas and are a very mobile team, but we will prepare to try and exploit their weaknesses."

  23. Garry Monk press conference

Newcastle United v Swansea City, Saturday, 15:00 BST

Swansea City boss Garry Monk wants his side to get "back on track" when they travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle on Saturday.

They lost to Leicester last weekend but a win for the eighth-placed Swans would see them break their Premier League points record of 47.

"We were disappointed last week with our performance," said Monk. "Every time we've had a setback this season, we've come back strong. Hopefully we can show that again on Saturday.

"We need to start well and get some momentum in the game, which will hopefully affect them."

  24. West Indies v England latest

    Cricket

England have lost their first wicket with Jonathan Trott out caught at close gully by Jermaine Blackwood off the leg spin of Devendra Bishoo. Gary Ballance is the new man and he has just got off the mark with a four. Alastair Cook is still there on 64 and England are 137-1 in reply to the home side's 299 all out.

You can follow the match via our live text commentary or on Test Match Special on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.

  25. Sean Dyche press conference

Burnley v Leicester, Saturday, 15:00 BST

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is well aware of the importance of his side's relegation tussle with Leicester this weekend. However, he is determined to keep everything in perspective. Here is what he had to say at his press conference earlier.

"I am used to it [pressure]. It is there for all to know about, but I try to know where it lives in life.

"It is football. I disagree with Bill Shankly. It is not more important than life or death, in my opinion. It is very important in my life, very important in the players' lives, very important in supporters' lives. But people have different things that go on their lives that overshadow football matches."

  26. Nadal beaten in Barcelona

    Tennis

    Rafael Nadal

A shock at the Barcelona Open as eight-time champion Rafael Nadal is knocked out by Fabio Fognini 6-4 7-6 (8-6).

The Spaniard converted only three of 18 break points in the two-hour match, while Italian Fognini took four of eight.

It has not been a great start to the clay-court season for Nadal, who lost in the semi-finals of Monte Carlo last week to world number one Novak Djokovic.

The 28-year-old is seeking his 10th French Open title at Roland Garros when the second Grand Slam of the season starts in Paris next month.

  27. Lloris could return for Spurs

Southampton v Tottenham, Saturday, 12:45 BST

"We have one more training session and we'll assess Hugo again tomorrow, but he's close ," said Pochettino, who also confirmed that Kyle Walker was still sidelined with a foot injury.

  28. Brendan Rodgers press conference

West Brom v Liverpool, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    Brendan Rodgers

More from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who was asked earlier whether he still expected to be the Reds' manager next season.

He replied: "Very much so, yes. I don't think there's anyone better. That's the reality of how I see it. Three months ago I was a tactical genius, performing to a good level. We lost a couple of games, some important games, and now you're not so good.

Asked about Jurgen Klopp being linked with your job, he said: "It's something that happens all the time if you lose a couple of games. We've had former managers liked here with the job before and that will continue for however long I'm here - whether you're doing good, bad or indifferent."

  29. Lightning strikes for Russell

    Ice Hockey

Ice hockey news now and Great Britain coach Pete Russell has agreed a contract to takeover as the head coach of English Premier League side MK Lightning.

  32. Pearce backing for Rugby League

    Rugby League

Rugby League deserves a higher profile across the whole country, rather than just in its north-west heartland, says former England U21 football manager Stuart Pearce.

The former Nottingham Forest defender, who won 78 caps for England, became interested in rugby league after meeting Warrington boss Tony Smith on a coaching course, and is full of praise for the sport.

"It's a wonderful sport, full of action," Pearce told BBC Sport. "It's very physical with a great deal of talent intermingled in all of that, but enjoys almost no profile in the south of England more to the pity.

  33. 'I promise I'll try to keep us up'

    Football

    Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town boss Gary Johnson has used an unusual technique to try to motivate his players in their battle to avoid relegation from League Two.

  37. Country life helps Hawkins

    Snooker

Barry Hawkins says the picturesque serenity of the Derbyshire countryside has helped him relax and find his best form at the World Snooker championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre.

The world number five was the 2013 runner-up and he proved it was no fluke by reaching the final four at last year's World Championship.

"If you are going to be here for a week or two you want to be as comfortable as possible." he told BBC Sport. "I stumbled across it a couple of years ago online and as long as I am playing at the Crucible I will always try to stay there."

  38. Mauricio Pochettino press conference

Southampton v Tottenham, Saturday, 12:45 BST

  40. Mauricio Pochettino press conference

Southampton v Tottenham, Saturday, 12:45 BST

Pochettino has admitted missing out on European football could aid sixth-placed Tottenham's bid to qualify for the Champions League next season.

If Arsenal beat Aston Villa in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 30 May, the seventh-placed team in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League.

"If you achieve the Europa League it might not be the dream of the club or the supporters but you need to play it because it is good for the financial side of the club," he said.

"It's true the experience last season with Liverpool and now with Manchester United, I think it's a clear example that maybe you will have the opportunity to stay closer to reaching the top four if you only are focused on the Premier League and the cups."

  41. Mauricio Pochettino press conference

Southampton v Tottenham, Saturday, 12:45 BST

Mauricio Pochettino says he is looking forward to returning to St Mary's with Spurs on Saturday after leaving Southampton last summer but is not expecting a "special reception".

Recalling his time on the south coast, he said: "We stabilised the club in the Premier League and top 10 and I'm very happy it was good for Southampton because I love the people of Southampton, the players.

"Koeman has continued to develop the project, or a new project, and it's a fantastic job and he deserves the praise."

Asked about what reception to expect, he said: "I don't expect nothing special."

  42. Mauricio Pochettino press conference

Southampton v Tottenham, Saturday, 12:45 BST

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke earlier about Harry Kane's possible selection for England Under-21s in this summer's European Championship and he has warned that his club must be "careful" with their young talent.

"It's not because Harry Kane, (Ryan) Mason and (Nabil) Bentaleb are good this season, now we need to put all academy players in the first team," he said.

  43. Chris Ramsey press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    Chris Ramsey

Three wins from five games. That's what Chris Ramsey believes his QPR side need to stay up. It is not impossible, but for a team that has won only 7 of their last 33 games it is pretty tough ask. Those five fixtures start with a home game against West Ham...

"If you win three games you're probably going to stay up," said Ramsey. "We know the enormity of the task ahead but you can only plan and prepare as best you can and what happens, happens."

  44. Delia hopes Meekings can play in final

    Football

Ronny Deila hopes Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Josh Meekings is successful in challenging the ban that would rule him out of the Scottish Cup final (see 12:16 entry).

Meekings is contesting the one-game ban 'offered' to him by the Scottish FA's compliance officer for a supposedly deliberate handball to prevent Celtic's Leigh Griffiths scoring in Sunday's semi-final at Hampden.

"It doesn't help us if someone gets banned," said Celtic's Norwegian boss. "I don't think he did it on purpose."

  45. Tim Sherwood press conference

Manchester City v Aston Villa, Saturday, 17:30 BST

    Jack Grealish

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood may be a big fan of midfielder Jack Grealish, but that has not prevented him having a stern word with the young player, who was pictured in the Sun inhaling nitrous oxide.

"I'm not pleased obviously, I spoke to Jack first thing this morning as he came in, I explained to him his behaviour can't be tolerated by the football club, we can't condone that behaviour. It doesn't matter how young he is, he is now in a responsible position as a professional footballer, he's got to make sure it won't happen again, he's assured me it won't."

  48. Mayweather v Pacquiao

    Boxing

    Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather has hit back at claims by Manny Pacquiao that God is willing him to inflict the first defeat of the American's career on 2 May. Best let him do the talking...

"God loves us all. I'm a fighter. I'm a professional prizefighter, that's what I do. I believe in God, I love God. I've been blessed all my life. I don't think God takes sides.

"Whether you're American, Filipino, African, Dominican, Asian, we're all God's children. I don't think he roots for which of us he wants to win. People are going to root for who they want to root for, it's plain and simple."

  49. Dossena treated 'like a terrorist'

    Football

    Andrea Dossena

Former Liverpool and Sunderland defender Andrea Dossena has claimed he was treated "like a terrorist" after he was arrested for shoplifting in Harrods.

Italian Dossena, 33, was detained with his wife, Deborah, and young son, Romeo, at the Knightsbridge department store, but all charges were later dropped.

Dossena, who is now at Leyton Orient, told Corriere dello Sport they were handcuffed, "as you would do with a terrorist", adding: "I was obviously in disbelief, not only because of that gesture but because I didn't know what was going on - I hadn't realised the mistake we'd made.

"They asked to see our documents that prove our status as residents of London, and obviously I didn't have them with me - I'd left them at home. So then they took us to the police station, where they held us until 22:30, despite the needs of a two-and-a-half-year-old child. It's absurd to treat a child this way."

I got to Wembley, parked up and ran to the gates, in to my seat 30 seconds before kick off....result.

Anthony, Wirral: Me & my brother spent over £700 each for a 1 night stay to Athens in 2007. Liverpool lost a CL final 2-1 & the hotel was like something out of Fawlty Towers! Finally, our breakfast consisted of coffee, a hard boiled egg & half an apple! We couldn't wait to fly home !

James: I didn't have the booking history to buy Villa tickets for the semi final just played. However, as I am a serving soldier, Tickets for Troops contacted me TWO days before the game to let me know they had two tickets left. So I took my 8 year old son to what was our first time to Wembley to watch the greatest Villa game our lives, and I was at Villa v Inter in the 90's. Delph's goal was right in front of us and we haven't stopped cheering/singing/smiling since. Didnt think I would be saying that back in January. UTV.

"We will always strive to be the best. The reality is we want to be winners. I'm even more motivated to make sure we progress."

He confirms that striker Daniel Sturridge will not be available to face West Brom at The Hawthorns.

  54. Nigel Pearson press conference

    Football

    Nigel Pearson

Nigel Pearson has the rare luxury today of being able to talk to the press as the manager of a Leicester team who have won their last three Premier League matches. On Saturday, they face a huge match against fellow relegation battlers Burnley.

"There's a lot on the result, possibly a bit of a cup feel to it. Every encounter we've had in recent seasons has been close. We have a few bumps and bruises, but we'll assess Friday. David Nugent (calf) is touch and go, but we've had a relatively fit squad."

Following last weekend's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Aston Villa, Rodgers says his team will fight for a top-four finish until the end of the season.

"If you take the emotion out of last weekend, this is a team who over achieved last season. It had a world-class striker and nearly won title," he adds.

"We want to finish the season strong and take that momentum into the following season. If other clubs make mistakes then we have to ensure we're ready to take advantage."

Came to nearer £400 each with travel etc. Certainly not the result I wanted but well worth it as I never thought I'd ever see Stoke in another Cup Final in my lifetime, having turned down the chance at 9yrs old to be a ball-boy in the '72 League Cup Final!!

  65. Alan Pardew press conference

Crystal Palace v Hull, Saturday, 15:00 BST

Asked about the prospect of Joel Ward and Scott Dann playing for England, Alan Pardew says they should be aiming for international recognition.

"I'm sure [Roy] Hodgson has a good idea of the quality we've got here. Whether he thinks that's better than his current players is up to him."

Going back to Saturday's game, he warns Steve Bruce's side: "With the players we have, particularly the very fast wide players, Hull's three at the back could be a dangerous set-up.

Our away form suggests we're a top eight team, our home form a bottom six team."

He also suggests valuations of 25-year-old winger Yannick Bolasie in the media are too low.

"When I hear figures being talked about regarding my players, I think: 'They're not even close,'" he adds.

"It's easy to address, a manager has to ring me up and I will give them a price."

"We need desire to win. Hull's desire will be 10 out of 10 and we need to match that.

"Retiring jockey AP McCoy tells me he won't know until Friday how many rides he will have at his final fixture - Sandown's 'jump finale' meeting on Saturday.

"'It could be one ride, it could be five, I don't honestly know,' said the Northern Irishman, who will be crowned champion for the 20th straight year at the meeting.

"The 40-year-old will definitely ride Mr Mole, for trainer Paul Nicholls, in the AP McCoy Celebration Chase. McCoy is a big Arsenal fan and former Gunners striker Ian Wright is expected to present the jockeys' trophy to him."

  109. Chris Ramsey press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    Leroy Fer

Chris Ramsey has also provided some injury updates ahead of his side's game with West Ham this Saturday. It appears that defender Rio Ferdinand is still a week or so away from returning, but QPR could have midfielder Leroy Fer back following a medial ligament injury.

"We've managed to get a lot of the guys who've had minor knocks out there training in the last fortnight," said Ramsey. "Rio Ferdinand is nursing an injury. He could be out for a little while, but could be in contention before the end of season.

"Leroy Fer is in contention. He's not 100% but we might take a chance on him. We don't want a reoccurring injury though. We're hoping at the very least he will be on the bench for us this weekend. He's a big player for us."

  110. Sam Allardyce press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

The West Ham boss acknowledges that his team have to arrest the slide that has seen them fall from fourth in the Premier League at Christmas to 10th.

"We've made life far too difficult for ourselves, but we have to continue to make sure we do better than we are at the moment," he said.

"We've got QPR and Burnley next who are fighting for their lives. We have to match that fight.

"The focus has to be that we have to try and finish the season on a high. The bad run has come at the back end of the season and you don't want to end the season with that."

  111. Sam Allardyce press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    Aaron Creswell

We have just mentioned the London Evening Standard suggestion that Chelsea are interested in West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell (see 10:08 entry).

    Big Sam is not impressed.

"As far as I'm concerned nobody has bid for Aaron Cresswell so it's pure rumours that has to fill the media space.

"It's for me to make sure that Aaron continues to do what he has done all season, which is perform on a consistent basis.

"He has to continue to work as hard as he can, not rest on his laurels and build on the impressive year he's had."

  112. Chris Ramsey press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

Chris Ramsey is contracted until the end of the season at QPR, which has inevitably left question marks over his future. However, the 52-year-old says his only focus is on helping the club stay up. You would assume the two things are very closely linked.

"Everyone here is focused on the challenge. My future isn't a priority," he has just told the media. "Survival is in the forefront of our thoughts. I'm fully expecting a blood and thunder London derby. We will be positive and on the front foot and going for the win."

  113. Sam Allardyce press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    West Ham manager Sam Allardyce

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is next up to face the media and he is a man under pressure as his side have won only two out of their last 16 Premier League games.

    He begins with injury updates.

"We still have the same injury list as we did last week. Whether we can get [Diafra] Sakho and [James] Tomkins back before the end of the season is touch and go. Guy Demel has picked up a calf injury as well."

  115. Luis return to Atletico?

    Football

    Filipe Luis

The London Evening Standard report that Atletico Madrid have opened talks with Chelsea over re-signing £16m Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis in the summer.

They say the La Liga champions want to capitalise on Luis's lack of first-team football at Stamford Bridge to take him back to Vicente Calderon.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been first choice for most of the campaign and Luis has made just 18 starts in all competitions, seven in the Premier League.

A possible replacement could be West Ham's Aaron Cresswell.

  116. Chris Ramsey press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    Chris Ramsey

Saturday's game at Loftus Road is between two sides who may well be dispensing with the services of their current managers in the summer. Chris Ramsey's position at QPR remains uncertain, while the speculation about Sam Allardyce leaving West Ham refuses to go away. However, the former has given his full backing to the latter ahead of this weekend's game...

"I haven't paid much attention to the speculation around Sam's job," said Ramsey. "Whether it's true or false I don't know. I don't see why there would be speculation about his job - he's done a very good job at Upton Park."

"But Sam will prepare his team as he always does. The speculation about his future will have no impact on the game."

  117. Chris Ramsey press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

As Chris Ramsey has just spoken about, QPR lost their last game to London rivals Chelsea, with Cesc Fabregas settling a tight game with an 88th-minute finish. Chelsea had not registered a single shot on target until then. No wonder Ramsey was frustrated.

"We've lacked concentration in the final moments," he has just told members of the media at the club's press conference. "That's the difference. But in general our displays have been good."

  118. Chris Ramsey press conference

QPR v West Ham, Saturday, 15:00 BST

    Chris Ramsey

The Premier League press conferences are coming thick and fast. This Saturday, 19th-placed QPR take on West Ham at Loftus Road and the Hoops' manager Chris Ramsey is currently talking about that game and more to the media...

"We were really frustrated at the end of the Chelsea game [which they lost 1-0], so we probably didn't want the two week break [due to the FA Cup semi-finals]," said Ramsey. "The last month of the season - all results will be key. We just want positive results from our games. All we care about is getting above that line by the end of May. That's all that matters."

  119. Arsene Wenger press conference

Arsenal v Chelsea, Sunday, 16:00 BST

    Alexis sanchez

While Wenger will have Eden Hazard to worry about at the Emirates on Sunday, the Arsenal manager believes his Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez stands comparison with the Belgian midfielder.

"It's his first season so he will compete very closely with Hazard for player of the year."

  122. Arsene Wenger press conference

Arsenal v Chelsea, Sunday, 16:00 BST

The Arsenal boss has spoken about Chelsea midfielder and PFA Player of the Year nominee Eden Hazard, who has been so brilliant for the league leaders in 2014-15.

"Everybody would agree that he's had a great season. He's found maturity that he didn't have before," said Wenger.

As for his own team, 10 points behind Chelsea in second, he is disappointed that the end of the season is approaching so fast:

"There was a turning point last week with Manchester United not beating Chelsea. Now we can get closer to Chelsea on Sunday.

"We had a disturbed start to the season but since January we have done very well. We could do with 10 more games!"

  123. Arsene Wenger press conference

Arsenal v Chelsea, Sunday, 16:00 BST

It's fair to say that Arsene Wenger's record against Chelsea teams managed by Jose Mourinho is pretty lamentable - 12 matches, seven defeats and five draws.

Can Wenger get his first win this Sunday?

The Frenchman said: "We have been close to beating them a few times. The result on Sunday will just be down to the performance on the day."

"We have passed many tests recently. We have another test on Sunday against Chelsea that we want to pass."

  134. Hazard warning for Chelsea

    Thursday's Daily Mirror back page

It is unsurprising, considering his form, that Eden Hazard has suitors across Europe. Few of them would be able to prise him away from Chelsea, though. Real Madrid on the other hand, seem to fancy their chances, at least according to today's Daily Mirror. In addition, in contrast to the Mail, the Mirror suggest that City could opt for former Liverpool and current Napoli boss Rafa Benitez as their new boss.

  138. Broad and Cook the main men

    England 74-0 v WI 299 all out

Switching our attention to cricket and England have seized the advantage in the second Test against West Indies after a rain-affected second day that saw them dismiss the hosts for 299, then reach 74-0 by stumps in Grenada.

Stuart Broad was the main man with the ball, taking 4-61 as the hosts slipped from 188-5 overnight. Captain Alastair Cook then scored 37 not out, with Jonathan Trott amassing an unbeaten 32, to give England a solid start and a the openers a much-needed confidence boost.

  139. Keeping it Real

Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico Madrid (1-0 agg)

Javier Hernandez celebrates with Cristiano Ronaldo

It was a night of high drama at the Bernabeu, where Real met Atletico in the latest instalment of the Madrid derby. Diego Simeone's Atletico have had hold over rivals Real this season, but Carlo Ancelotti's men had the last laugh as Javier Hernandez's 88th-minute winner settled the tie and sent the Champions League holders through to the last four of the competition once again.

Real Madrid have now reached the Champions League semi-finals for the fifth successive season, equalling their club record previously set between 1956 and 1960. And yet Ancelotti's job is now safe. Madness.

In the other quarter-final, a 0-0 draw in Monaco ensured treble-chasing Juventus went through.
