With Wilfried Bony gone - and Bafetimbi Gomis not always available - they have still managed eye-catching results to seal a club-record number of Premier League points.
It's their best season since the halcyon days of John Toshack in 1982. Seven wins since the January window have given them an outside chance of European qualification.
So having completed a double over Manchester United, Swansea now seek the same against Arsenal."

Arsenal v Swansea (20:00 BST)
BBC Radio 5 live commentator Ian Brown: "On a rain-drenched November afternoon in South Wales, Swansea fought back from a goal down to beat Arsenal. I was there to see a bedraggled Arsene Wenger outmanoeuvred on the touchline by a young tactician by the name of Garry Monk.
It was one of a series of autumn results that brought much introspection in Arsenal heartlands and even the staunchest Wenger allies were beginning to wobble. As usual, they should have known better.
Arsenal are actually qualifying for the Champions League with something to spare. They might have taken 30 points from 30 but for the stubbornness of Chelsea and have, of course, reached the cup final again.
Key players have returned to form and fitness so talk of a proper title challenge next season is far from preposterous."

Should Pietersen be recalled by England?
This is marvellous stuff from Pietersen but let's just put things in context for a moment.
He has been dropped five times in his innings - the first time when he was on 96 - and is up against a Leicestershire side that has not won a county championship game in three years and counting.
But, still, what an innings.

It is the first triple hundred of Kevin Pietersen's career - and he bought up the mark in typical fashion, by smashing a huge six.
"Goodness me, that's gone miles," says the commentator on BBC London (listen here). "It's ended up in the middle tier of the stand. It's a huge six. There may be a delay here while we find the ball."

BBC Radio Solent's Kevin James at Headingley:
Yorkshire 370, Hampshire 21-1
"A better morning for Hampshire, who picked up the last three Yorkshire wickets for the addition of just 37.

England manager Mark Sampson speaking ahead of the Women's World Cup squad announcement: "We know we have to beat the best teams if you want to be successful and what better way to start than against the favourites in France? There aren't many teams who will want to play this England team."
"Middlesex claimed five wickets in the morning session to put themselves well on top on a Hove pitch that has proved a minefield for the batsman.
"Sussex reached the interval on 163-8, with Ben Brown on 21 and Ajmal Shahzad two not out. The heavy cloud cover this morning aided the visitors as the severely cracked track has lacked any consistency in its bounce or pace since the off.
"The hosts still trail by 106, which in a low-scoring match will be crucial, unless they can find a substantial addition to their total from the lower order."
Chopra century puts Bears in control
Cricket
BBC WM 95.6's Richard Wilford at Edgbaston:
Warwickshire 264 & 196-6, Worcestershire 149
"A true captain's knock from Varun Chopra has kept Warwickshire in charge on day three - his 107 not out in seam-friendly conditions is arguably worth rather more than that.
"Joe Leach and Charlie Morris hit their straps well in the first hour, and gave Worcestershire hope of a more moderate fourth innings target.
"But Chopra's sixth wicket stand of 66 with Keith Barker has probably taken the game away from them."
Pietersen reached three figures off 153 balls, with two sixes and 12 fours, his first hundred in the Championship since June 2013. He was 101 not out at lunch, with Surrey 222-5, in reply to Leicestershire's 292.
He may note that Leicestershire have not won a county game for two years.

The 29-year-old Manxman, riding for Etixx - Quick-Step, comfortably beat Tinkoff-Saxo's Peter Sagan into second, with Jean-Pierre Drucker (BMC) third.
"It was chaotic," said Cavendish, who was led out by team-mate Mark Renshaw.
"When Mark [Renshaw] is stressing you know it's stressful. But I don't have to think too much even with the chaos, so I can focus on saving energy for the sprint."
"Not in terms of entertainment, perhaps, because there was not a great deal of that at the front of the field. But in the sense that Rosberg halted Lewis Hamilton's runaway momentum and turned what was in danger of becoming a walkover into at least the semblance of a contest."
Andy Murray may have won in Spain over the weekend, but Lewis Hamilton could only manage second as Nico Rosberg took a dominant win in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton was initially stuck behind Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel but switched to a different strategy to get ahead.
The German was third ahead of Williams' Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen.
The result means Rosberg has reduced Hamilton's advantage in the championship to 20 points, while Vettel is 31 points adrift in third place.

"I think the future looks bright for QPR apart from dropping its status at this stage of the proceedings," Ramsey told BBC Sport after the game on Sunday. "I think I'm capable of doing the job."
The Briton had never beaten Nadal in six previous meetings on the surface but won 6-3 6-2 to stun the home crowd.
Defending champion Nadal was aiming for a record fifth win in Madrid but Murray outclassed his Spanish opponent to lift his first Masters title on clay.
"I was more happy with the ovation from the Liverpool fans," said Gerrard. "Chelsea fans have had respect for a couple of seconds today but have slaughtered me all game.
"I'm not going to get drawn into wishing Chelsea fans well. It was nice of them to turn up for once today."

Cricket: Kevin Pietersen hit the first triple century of his career to make a dramatic statement to England's selectors two months before the Ashes.
Football: Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola says he will still be at the club next season, despite reported interest from Manchester City.

One of the lads
Kate Cross says she often forgets that she's a girl after taking eight wickets for men's team Heywood.
The England seamer became the first woman to play in the Central Lancashire League last month and took 8-47 in a win over Unsworth on Sunday.
"I'm treated like another player," the 23-year-old told BBC Sport.
"I've grown up playing boys' cricket and I'm never treated like a girl in a boys' team. I never dreamed I would get an eight-for in men's cricket."
She added: "I sort of lose track that I'm a girl."

Swindon v Sheff Utd (19:45 BST)
Swindon boss Mark Cooper, meanwhile, says there is a calm atmosphere among his team despite the prospect of a trip to Wembley to face Preston.
"There's no hooting and screaming and back-slapping. They know it's half-time," he said.
"We know we have to be really professional because we have a really tough job to do to beat Sheffield United."
It's a sell-out at the County Ground - should be a belter.

Swindon v Sheff Utd (19:45 BST)
The Blades have lost out in seven previous play-off campaigns, but boss Nigel Clough does not believe that puts any additional pressure on his players.
"We need one goal, it doesn't matter when it comes. We have gone from being pretty even to them being very, very strong favourites so the pressure is all on them," he said.
"We have to play as we can, if we get half a chance hopefully we can put them away this time."
Football
Swindon v Sheff Utd (19:45 BST)
A hugely important play-off semi-final game at the County Ground tonight, where Swindon defender Harry Toffolo (thigh) is a doubt after missing the first leg at Bramall Lane on Thursday.
Striker Jermaine Hylton made just his second start for the club in the 2-1 win and could keep his place.
Sheffield United defender John Brayford (knee) could miss out after being forced off at half-time last week.
Midfielder Stefan Scougall (hamstring) is out but forward Jose Baxter (illness) might figure after missing the first game.
Football
Arsenal v Swansea (20:00 BST)
BBC Radio 5 live commentator Ian Brown: "The wisdom was that Swansea would struggle in this first full season with their rookie manager Garry Monk. Instead they have flourished.
Football
Football
Arsenal v Swansea (20:00 BST)
Arsenal need to keep winning if they are to pip Manchester City to second place in the Premier League.
Team news for tonight's game is that midfielder Aaron Ramsey is a major doubt after sustaining a blow to the leg at Hull and frontman Danny Welbeck is almost certain to remain sidelined with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Swansea defender Jordi Amat has been ruled out for the season with a broken metatarsal.
Dwight Tiendalli has been recalled from his loan spell at Middlesbrough, with Jazz Richards also back from a stint at Fulham. Both are available to play - and striker Bafetimbi Gomis could return after missing three games with a hamstring problem.

Look who's talking
Surrey have just announced that Pietersen - now on 324 (he's just hit his 14th six) - will talk to the media after play ends at Surrey.
Should be interesting - especially with Andrew Strauss facing the press tomorrow for the first time since being appointed England's Director of Cricket.
Cricket
Should Pietersen be recalled by England?
This is marvellous stuff from Pietersen but let's just put things in context for a moment.
He has been dropped five times in his innings - the first time when he was on 96 - and is up against a Leicestershire side that has not won a county championship game in three years and counting.
But, still, what an innings.
Time for some of your views me thinks.
Should Pietersen be recalled to the England side? Let us know now at #bbcsportsday
Cricket
Perfect Pietersen
It is the first triple hundred of Kevin Pietersen's career - and he bought up the mark in typical fashion, by smashing a huge six.
"Goodness me, that's gone miles," says the commentator on BBC London (listen here). "It's ended up in the middle tier of the stand. It's a huge six. There may be a delay here while we find the ball."
That takes KP to 311, and with no signs of stopping any time soon.
Surrey are 511-9. Can England ignore him after this? Unlikely, whatever the politics of the matter.
Cricket
Triple hundred man
Oh my word. Kevin Pietersen is flying.
The batsman has just passed the 300 mark in Surrey's county championship match against Leicestershire.
He is on 304, from 349 balls, in an innings which has included 34 fours and - get this - 11 sixes.
The only problem is he's about to run out of partners. Surrey are on 500 for 9, with last man Matt Dunn keeping KP company. Block the best you can Dunny lad, and let KP carry on smashing.

Good news for Heather Watson - perhaps inspired by Andy Murray's clay-court heroics, the Brit has reached the second round of the Italian Open after easing past Roberta Vinci 6-3 6-1.

Court action
Spanish La Liga
And as we seem to be in Spanish mode at the moment - I've even donned a sombrero and am munching a paella - this is the latest on the strike that threatens to play havoc with the end of the season...
A Spanish court is likely to decide on Wednesday if the strike affecting the end of La Liga season is legal.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has suspended the end of the season and the players' union (AFE) also decided to strike in a row over TV rights.
The proposed action puts the final two rounds of league games in doubt, as well as the Copa del Rey final.
Football
'We feel good' - Ancelotti
But, despite that domestic setback, coach Carlo Ancelotti is confident Real Madrid will reach the Champions League final if they repeat the performance of Saturday's 2-2 draw with Valencia.
The European champions trail 2-1 from the first leg against head coach Ancelotti's former club Juventus.
"We feel good and if we play like this on Wednesday then everything will go well," the Italian said.
Toni Kroos is expected to be fit despite coming off against Valencia and Paul Pogba is available for Juventus.
Football
Farewell to title
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal says they can say "goodbye to the league" after slipping four points behind Barcelona with two games left.
Real came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Valencia, but Barca's win over Real Sociedad has put them in control.
Carvajal said: "At home we couldn't slip up, we've done that and we say goodbye to the league.
"It's painful because we wanted to fight until the final day, although we'll keep on doing that."
Middlesex extend lead at Hove
Cricket
BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand at Hove:
Middlesex 269 & 102-5, Sussex 192
"Middlesex reached tea on day two at Hove on 102-5 in their second innings, leading by 179.
"Sussex were skittled for 192 just after lunch as the pitch continued to produce inconsistent bounce as the visitors were aided by cloud cover.
"The cracks on the pitch will only make batting more perilous and a target of more than 200 is going to be highly unlikely with run scoring extremely difficult to this stage."

'Deeply concerned'
The PFA has released the following statement about the allegations from Chesterfield captain Ian Evatt that he was "kicked, punched and spat at" by Preston fans after the play-off game at Deepdale on Sunday.
"Following an incident during the League One play-off semi-final between Preston North End and Chesterfield, the PFA has been in contact with PFA Chairman Ritchie Humphreys and Chesterfield captain Ian Evatt.
Evatt was allegedly "punched, kicked and spat on" by rival fans on the pitch. The Chesterfield captain has given a statement to police.
The Union is deeply concerned that a member has been attacked by fans and will work closely with Ian Evatt, Ritchie Humphreys and Chesterfield FC in order to offer our full support and guidance.
The PFA will continue to address this matter with the relevant bodies to try and ensure that this behaviour is eradicated from the game, before a player is seriously injured in a similar incident."

Ex-Ghana forward Boateng, 28, played 59 minutes of the Bundesliga match while Germany winger Sam, 27, was not involved as Schalke dropped to sixth.
Both players have been told they have no future with Roberto Di Matteo's side and can find new clubs.
The club originally said they had released the pair - but they remain under contract.

BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson at Chester-le-Street:
Nottinghamshire 245, Durham 155-7

"Vernon Philander and Brett Hutton have particularly benefited from the low bounce from The Lumley End, taking two wickets and one respectively."

The best of enemies
There's a nice little barney going on in Portugal between Porto and Benfica.
Porto coach Julen Lopetegui has launched an attack that is the very definition of scathing on his Benfica counterpart, Jorge Jesus.
The pair had to be pulled apart at a recent match between the sides and Lopetegui said: "The coach of Benfica talks a lot, he says what he wants and he talks about everyone.
"I have the maximum respect for my fellow coaches, all of them, ... but I have lost that respect for him. (He has) an enormous lack of class for someone who has so much experience in this profession."
Jesus, as we understand it, has yet to respond to the comments.
Porto are second in the league and need leaders Benfica to drop four points in their last two games to have any chance of overhauling their rivals.

Sussex toil against Middlesex
Cricket
BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand at Hove:
Middlesex 269, Sussex 163-8

He may note that Leicestershire have not won a county game for two years.

Relatives of some victims, Bradford residents and civic leaders are among those expected to attend as well as Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey, Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson, and captain Stephen Darby.

'No leaks at ECB' - Graves
Incoming England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chairman Colin Graves has defended the way Peter Moores was sacked as England coach.
Moores, 52, was relieved of his duties following a dismal World Cup and the drawn Test series with West Indies.
Reports of the sacking emerged on Friday before it was confirmed the next day, after Andrew Strauss's appointment as new national director of cricket.
"It seems it got leaked... but that was certainly not by the ECB," Graves said.

Worries for North
Wales boss Warren Gatland is "hugely worried" about George North's future after the wing's recent concussions.
North, 23, suffered a fourth head injury in five months while playing for Northampton against Wasps in March.
He did not play in April on the advice of a neurologist and, although he could return to play for Saints this season, Gatland hopes he will not be risked.
"If he gets another knock he is going to have to be out for six months or a year or something like that," he said.

'I'd have gone sooner'
Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has joked he would have announced his resignation sooner if he had known it would improve their form.
Dortmund have moved from 10th to seventh, a Europa League position, after four games unbeaten since Klopp announced he will leave in the summer.
"If I'd known before the start of the season that we'd put such a winning run together, I'd have announced my departure back then," Klopp said. "Seventh place feels brilliant."
Dortmund have finished in the top two for the past four seasons, but were in relegation trouble for most of this season and were in bottom place in February.

Huge win for Exeter
Exeter Chiefs went above Saracens into the Premiership play-off places as Thomas Waldrom's late try secured a magnificent win at Allianz Park.
Number eight Waldrom touched down his 16th try of the season after a forward drive from a line-out.
Sarries twice led through Chris Ashton and Chris Wyles, but the Chiefs replied through Luke Cowan-Dickie and Waldrom. Owen Farrell put Saracens 20-17 ahead with a penalty, but Waldrom's second try gave Exeter four crucial points.
Victory over Sale will guarantee Exeter's place in the play-offs, but Sarries, who had the consolation of a losing bonus point, could also make it if they win and Leicester lose at home to leaders Northampton.

No long-term plan at QPR
BBC Sport pundit and former QPR midfielder Jermaine Jenas: "QPR's relegation proves that their players are not good enough for the Premier League but the real problem at Loftus Road is the lack of a long-term plan.
"I played for QPR from January 2013 until the end of last season and stayed on all summer doing my rehab after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in April of last year.
"During my time there, it was not being run as a Premier League club. For too long, the thinking was just to chuck money at the team.
"There has been no organisation, no vision, and no discipline in the way things were done. That is why I think it is unfair to blame relegation on the manager Chris Ramsey, or even his predecessor Harry Redknapp."

'Rosberg win was needed'
Andrew Benson
BBC Sport chief F1 writer
"The Spanish Grand Prix was the race Nico Rosberg - and the title battle - needed.
"Not in terms of entertainment, perhaps, because there was not a great deal of that at the front of the field. But in the sense that Rosberg halted Lewis Hamilton's runaway momentum and turned what was in danger of becoming a walkover into at least the semblance of a contest."
