    Sunderland chairman Ellis Short says Black Cats fans have taken Dick Advocaat to their 'hearts' after saving the club from relegation.

    So, after saying he was taking a break from the game, Dick Advocaat is back at Sunderland as head coach on a one-year contract. It follows talks with Black Cats chairman Ellis Short and sporting director Lee Congerton.

    "After a lot of discussions with Ellis and Lee, they convinced me that I am the right man for the club," the 67-year-old tells Sunderland's website., external

    "It was a great feeling to be part of Sunderland in the last few months, the experience was something very special and after talking with Lee, Ellis and of course my family, we all agree it is the right decision."

    So, the big transfer news of the day (aside from James Milner) is that the big transfer deadline has moved.

    The transfer window on 1 September will slam shut (it must always slam, it is never gently closed) at 17:00 BST, rather than the usual time of 23:00 BST.

    It's bad news for lovers of late-night drama and men in bright yellow ties.

    There are two reasons for the switch: 1. 31 August is a bank holiday. 2. Clubs need to submit their Champions League squads by 23:00 BST on 1 September.

    And while we're on the subject of Barcelona and bitter transfers, it's about time we mentioned Luis Figo.

    The ex-Portugal winger, 42, has been blocked by the club from playing in a combined Juventus and Barcelona legends team to face a World XI on Friday.

    Figo's inclusion prompted anger from fans of the club, still unforgiving of his move to Real Madrid in 2000.
