    Giant prop Uini Atonio has revealed how a rowdy set of wedding guests spoiled his first night's sleep in France's south London hotel.

    "There was a wedding in the reception area just under my room, and they were quite noisy," he said.

    "At around two in the morning, when I still could not sleep, I had to put my headphones on. We might have to change hotel."

    Captain Wayne Rooney will not travel to Holland with Manchester United for their opener against PSV Eindhoven.

    The striker injured himself in training ahead of Saturday's 3-1 win over Liverpool and will not be risked, although he could return for Sunday's game at Southampton. 

    James Wilson and Andreas Pereira both join the 18-man squad that was on duty against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

    Jordan McMillan, who was sacked by Partick Thistle after failing a drugs test in December, has been banned from football for two years. So far, so normal.

    But the 26-year-old not only claims his drink was spiked with cocaine, but that "the guy in question owned up to it and was formally charged by the police".

    Norwich City manager Alex Neil has praised the impact of loan signing Matt Jarvis after his goal-scoring debut.

    The winger joined from West Ham on deadline day and got the third goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Bournemouth at Carrow Road.

    "It gives us a different dimension," Neil told BBC Radio Norfolk. "We've got him on one side and Nathan [Redmond] on the other and it gives us two lads who can take the ball up the pitch and are both creative players as well."

    Former Yorkshire and England captain Brian Close, who has died at the age of 84, became the youngest player ever to win a Test cap for England when he made his debut against New Zealand in 1949 as an 18-year-old.

    The famously brave batsman went on to lead his country seven times in 22 Tests, and also captained his native county to win four county championship titles.

    Reports in the Australian press have linked Burgess with a return next year to his former club South Sydney Rabbitohs, where two of his brothers - twins George and Tom - still play.

    But quoted in the Daily Telegraph, Ford said: "Sam is very happy staying in rugby union.

    "He is loving his England spell at the moment and he is looking forward to coming back after the World Cup and playing for us and progressing his rugby union career."
