Surrey secure Division Two titlepublished at 17:22

    County Championship

Surrey have won the County Championship Division Two title despite drawing their final game against Northants at The Oval.

The 13 points gained were enough to ensure they will go up as champions after rivals Lancashire had to settle for a draw in their game against Essex at Chelmsford.

Surrey were set 215 to win the game, but after Jason Roy hit 77 off 35 balls, a halt was called with their score on 125-5.

Watford are likely to field a very similar side to the one that beat Newcastle last weekend for the visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday.

"One of our targets is to be stable. It is one of the most important things," manger Quique Flores said.

"We have a lot of confidence but I wouldn't want to be over-confident because it's not good for the team," he added.

Although Blatter announced he was stepping down back in June, he decided to hang on as president until February - in a bid to influence the choice of his successor and reforms. That now seems highly unlikely, with calls for him to resign immediately bound to intensify.

Today's news that Blatter is being questioned over a disloyal payment of 2m Swiss francs to Uefa supremo Michel Platini also drags the most powerful man in European football into the crisis.

The Frenchman is the favourite to replace Blatter as Fifa president and critics will say that this proves that he is not the man to take Fifa forward.

A day that ultimately serves to remind us why this is the biggest scandal in sports history.

Ever since May, when the arrest of senior Fifa officials in dawn raids in Zurich plunged world football's governing body into crisis, the sport has wondered whether the scandal would lead directly to president Sepp Blatter.

Today - finally - it did. On the one hand perhaps, it should come as no surprise.

After all, Blatter's been at the helm of Fifa for 17 years - he's become symbolic of the many corruption allegations that have blighted the body and some thought it a matter of time until investigations by the FBI and Swiss criminal authorities would implicate him.

In fact, such was the perceived threat facing Blatter, his lawyers advised him not to travel abroad.

However, today is still a stunning development, with criminal proceedings opened against the man who still runs world football.

The defender's appeal against his red card for a clash with Diego Costa during the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea was successful earlier this week.

He will though serve a ban for his behaviour after his sending off, and was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct.

Watford v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

Watford boss Quique Flores has been answering questions about Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor today. Newspaper reports suggested Flores had blocked the strikers attempts to train with them whilst he remains frozen out at Spurs.

"Two weeks ago we closed the squad. It's not the time to add. I'm focusing on the squad I have," Flores said.

When pressed about whether he would consider signing him in January, Flores responded: "You never know."

However, with the current form of his strikers Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney and with new signing Obbi Oulare waiting in the wings, that seems very unlikely.

Watford boss Quique Flores is in confident mood as his side aim for their third Premier League win in a row after victories over Newcastle and Swansea.

The Spaniard has opted to stick to a very settled side so far this campaign and that's likely to continue against Alan Pardew's team.

The partnership of forwards Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo has grabbed the majority of headlines so far but the understanding between central defensive duo Craig Cathcart and Sebastian Prodl cannot be underestimated.
