    West Brom 2-3 Everton

    Rob Gurney

    BBC WM Sport

That second half performance was so unlike a Pulis side it was barely believable.

To be on course for a 15th clean sheet and then to blow it would have had the paint peeling off the walls in the Pulis dressing room "debrief" afterwards.

The most concerning aspect of all is how James Chester is really struggling since his £8m move from Hull.

    Chester

He doesn't look comfortable at either right back or centre half, got out jumped by Lukaku for the first Everton goal and then allowed himself, along with Craig Dawson, to be shaken off the ball for Lukaku's winner.

It doesn't look like Gareth McAuley or Jonas Olsson will be back any time soon so there's much for Pulis to ponder defensively before visiting his old club Palace on Saturday.

  120. Confident Lukaku vital

    West Brom 2-3 Everton

    Ian Kennedy

    Reporter, BBC Radio Merseyside Sport

Everton’s 3-2 win at West Brom highlighted how important a confident Romelu Lukaku can be for the Blues, and certainly sets up an intriguing Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Indeed, it could be a tale of two strikers, with Lukaku on one side and a fit again Daniel Sturridge on the other.

    Romelu Lukaku

But it’s not just about Lukaku from Everton’s point of view.

Roberto Martinez gave Gerard Deulofeu a start at the Hawthorns, and while he’s still learning, his pace and skill on the ball must be a nightmare for any full back.

The Blues are up to fifth, have lost only one league game (to Manchester City!) and with more strength in depth, might just be readjusting their targets for the rest of the season.

  124. 'Cherries lose more than Wilson's goals'

    Analysis

    Kris Temple

    BBC Radio Solent

    Callum Wilson

The loss of Callum Wilson for most of the rest of the season is a monumental blow for Bournemouth.

The official Premier League statistical index rates Wilson as the top-performing striker in the top flight, but his five goals in his first seven appearances are just part of the story. He has much more to his game, with his pace, strength and movement catching numerous defenders out already this season.

Players with his attributes are hard to find, and Bournemouth have no one else like him. Suddenly, the Cherries’ deadline day signing Glenn Murray is going to have to step up to the plate, while Eddie Howe will be preparing to try and pull another Wilson-esque rabbit out of the hat in January.

  127. 'Cavendish will continue to deliver'

    Road cycling

    Matt Slater

    BBC Sport

Mark Cavendish's move from Etixx-Quick-Step (EQS) to Team Dimension Data has been so well signposted nobody has even pretended it was a secret.

That will not stop some fans wondering why the man who is still one of the most prolific winners in the sport is leaving a big-budget team from cycling's heartlands for an upstart outfit from South Africa.

There is no simple answer, but Cavendish has not quite delivered the headlines EQS hoped for when they signed him in 2012, there was alarm at his desire to go for a track medal at next year's Olympics and there is a growing sense that Team Dimension Data are upstarts no more.

Cavendish and the team of HTC-Highroad veterans he brings with him, should continue to deliver those for at least a few more years.

Jose Mourinho will have striker Diego Costa available for tonight's trip to Porto as the strikers three-match ban does not apply to European games.

In a news conference ahead of the match, the Chelsea boss was asked if he needed 11 Costas on the pitch.

Mourinho answered: "We would lose every game, because the desire to suspend him is so big that we wouldn't have players to start the game.

"I'm happy to have only one and let him play until they decide to suspend him again."

"But football is not about yesterday. In football you have to be consistent in your performance, in your emotion.
