Man City need to be switched onpublished at 17:50

Borussia Monchengladbach v Man City (Wed, 19:45 BST)

Borussia Park was full of activity today. It's a gleaming modern stadium, but extra corporate hospitality tents were being erected in the car park to cope with the demand for this game. With new caretaker manager Andre Schubert looking to continue a 100% record since taking charge 10 days ago, there is a renewed optimism around the club.

Manchester City had better be switched on early tonight. Borussia Mönchengladbach have won their last two games, and the key has been a flurry of early goals.

They scored four goals in the opening 21 mins against Augsburg last week, and then two goals in the opening 20 mins against Stuttgart on Saturday.

The 24-year-old will next play former world number one Venus Williams for a place in the last four.

Konta becomes the first British woman to beat a world number two since Sue Barker defeated Tracy Austin in 1981.

England captain Alastair Cook says he "has a good idea" who will be his opening partner when they begin the Test series against Pakistan in Dubai on 13 October.

Alex Hales and Moeen Ali are the likely options, and Hales is keen to make the spot his own.

"That's definitely my long-term goal in then next 12 months to nail down that spot in all three forms, but that's going to come with a hell of a lot of hard work," Hales said.

Ali refused to be drawn on whether he feels he should be higher up the order, saying "No not yet, it's a bit early at the moment, I'm happy to bat wherever and feel I can adapt to any situtation."

Australia head coach Darren Lehmann says he will be disappointed if the club's tour of Bangladesh is called off - but understands why it might happen.

The players have been sent back to their home states to train while awaiting a decision amid increasing security concerns.

“It’s getting pretty tight now, to be honest,” Lehmann told 5AA radio., external

“At the end of the day we have to wait and see what the boards and the security come up with, but we have to make the right decision for player and staff safety.

“We’re still on hold. The security guys got back from Bangladesh today so they’re obviously speaking to the board as we speak. Hopefully we come to some sort of answer in the next 24 hours or so.”
