    Steve McClaren admits it is a "massive, massive blow" to lose Tim Krul. His season-ending injury - suffered while on international duty with Holland in Kazakhstan - is just another headache for the Newcastle manager to deal with.

    "You talk about one of our best players in the team," he said. "To lose that is devastating. We've had a couple of days to get over it. He'll recover and we wish him well. We'll certainly look after him."

    It's Liverpool's second season-ending cruciate knee injury in a matter of days after Joe Gomez was sidelined with a similar injury on Wednesday.

    Ings moved to Anfield in the summer after impressing in Burnley's relegation fight last season.

    The news is a big blow for new Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, who must now rejig his plans for Liverpool's attack.

    It looks like Danny Ings will miss the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury. The forward was injured in training on Tuesday - Klopp's first session in charge.

    Ings had made a fine start to the season, scoring three goals and earning his first England call-up. The injury almost certainly rules him out of Euro 2016.

    The news cast doubt on his participation in Ireland's Euro 2016 play-off, which takes place over two legs in mid-November.

    He hasn't been out of work too long, after being sacked as Liverpool manager, but it looks like Brendan Rodgers is eager to get involved in football straightaway.

    The Independent are reporting, external that the Northern Irishman has been signed up by Qatari-owned television network BeIn Sports as a pundit.

    Good news for Championship side Blackburn Rovers. They are one big sale away from getting out of their Financial Fair Play embargo, says managing director Derek Shaw.

    The Championship club have been unable to buy players since December 2014 for not meeting the Football League's Fair Play Requirement.

    "We're probably one sale away, one asset sale away from coming out of FFP," Shaw told BBC Radio Lancashire. "Which would probably be a player for under £5m."
