Basketball
Basketball player Natasa Kovacevic who lost her lower left leg in a bus accident is set to become the first disabled European player to play in a professional team.
The 21-year-old, who will make her debut for Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday, uses a special prosthesis.
The accident occurred when the 21-year-old was with another team - Gyor - and claimed the lives of the team's coach and general manager in September 2013.
Horse Racing
Racing legend Lester Piggott has paid tribute to Pat Eddery after the 11-time champion jockey died at the age of 63.
Piggott, the winner of the Derby at Epsom nine times, was a friend and rival of Eddery.
"Pat Eddery was as fierce an opponent on the racecourse as he was a loyal and dear friend off it," said the 80-year-old.
"He was a natural horseman, he exuded class and always knew what to do in a race.
"The horses he was associated with speak for themselves, and I doubt you’d find a jockey with a sharper tactical brain or stronger in a finish. He was a huge personality in the weighing room, and wasn’t slow to keep us all grounded with his wit and sense of humour. He will be sorely missed."

BBC commentator and former world 1500m champion Steve Cram has told BBC Sport that Russia should be told they are no longer welcome in athletics until they can "get their house in order".
A World Anti Doping Agency independent commission examined allegations of doping, cover-ups, and extortion in Russian athletics, which also implicated the IAAF, the sport's world governing body.

Wigan full-back Ryan Hampshire has signed a new three-year deal - but been loaned to Castleford Tigers for the 2016 season.
"Kris Radlinski and [owner] Ian Lenagan have assured me that I have a big future with Wigan and I appreciate the club's support at this stage," the 20-year-old told the club website.

Blackburn Rovers have parted company with manager Gary Bowyer.
The 44-year-old has been in charge on a permanent basis since May 2013 but the side are currently in 16th place in the Championship.

Roy Keane expects injury doubts Shane Long, John O'Shea and Rob Elliot to miss the Republic of Ireland's Euro play-off against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
O'Shea is banned for Friday's first leg in Zelina and may miss Monday's second leg because of a hamstring injury.
Long has been out for several weeks because of ankle injury while Newcastle keeper Elliott has a thigh injury.

Athletics in crisis
Igor Zagorskiy, deputy director of Rusada (Russia's Anti-Doping Agency), has been talking to BBC Radio 5 live about the current crisis gripping athletics in his country.
He didn't want to comment on the situation in any real detail but did say: “Rusada is fully open and ready to work together with Wada for every possible improvement.
“There is always room for improvement, you can always be better, we are on that track and we’ve been on that track together with WADA and we will continue this work on this.”

The Paris St-Germain striker has won a record 10th Guldbollen , external(Golden Ball), the award given to the best male footballer in his home country.
It is the ninth year in a row that Ibrahimovic has lifted the award.
He won it for the first time in 2005, and has won it every year since former Arsenal midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg triumphed in 2006.
No other player has won the award more than twice.

Rangers bossMark Warburtonsays he will not be afraid to suggest a £1m signing in January, despite the club's ongoing cash shortage.
Rangers last week admitted they would need up to £2.5m of shareholder loans to see out the season, but Warburton brought in 11 players during the summer, three on loan, and he is looking for one or two in the winter transfer window.
"We will put forward players we think can add value," said Warburton. "It's about trusting your judgement and getting the right value for the club. If it's near seven figures and we think it represents good value, we will put it to the board. Absolutely."

Former Newcastle midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has told France Football of his "hell" on Tyneside as his career in English football drew to a close.
The 28-year-old was prevented from joining Nice in January because of Fifa regulations and was left to train with the club's youngsters after then manager Alan Pardew finally lost patience with him and eventually sent out on an ill-fated loan spell to Hull.
"It was a very, very difficult period. The worst of my career," he said. "It was as if my hell began at Newcastle. I did not understand. They gave me a nightmare. It was full of little cheap shots. And when I believed in me [getting out] by signing for Nice, they were forbidden to hire me until July."

Head coach Mike Ford believes Sam Burgess "didn't have the stomach" to fight for his future at Bath.
The 26-year-old left the club last week to return to former club South Sydney Rabbitohs after just a year in the 15-a-side code.
"All I know is that he didn't have the stomach to see out his contract," said Ford. "For me this was the time to roll his sleeves up and become the player that I thought he could be - and he chose not to.
"You don't know what he was thinking, it wasn't until the final talk I had with him that I felt there was nothing more I could do.
"But I did speak to him about that and about what a fantastic player he could be, and about the investment the club and the players had made in him, and that it was time to repay that. But he chose differently."

Professional Jockeys Association executive director and former jockey Dale Gibson has paid tribute to former champion jockey Pat Eddery, who has died.
"It was a pleasure and a privilege to sit next to him on occasions and an even greater one to ride against him," said Gibson.
"He never seemed to fluster or show any sign of nerves, whatever the circumstances. He developed his own unique style which some tried to copy but rarely replicated, his hands were silk, his whip action perfection.
"Pat's ability and passion were the same whether it was a Windsor seller on a Monday or an important Group 1 at Ascot."

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero says he is making good progress as he works his way towards a return to action against Liverpool a week on Saturday after a hamstring injury.
