    Football - Argentina v Brazil

It was the showdown fans had been waiting for. And now they will have to wait a little longer because torrential rain in Buenos Aires forced Argentina's World Cup qualifying match with Brazil to be postponed on Thursday night less than an hour before kick-off.

Officials ruled that the saturated pitch at Monumental Stadium in the Argentine capital was unplayable. Hail and lightning didn't help either.

The South American superpowers will try again on Friday night. Both are struggling in qualifying with Brazil taking three points from their first two qualifiers and Argentina only managing one point, having yet to score a goal.

England bowler Stuart Broad tells BBC Radio 4 that the team have not ever found a suitable opening batsman to play alongside Alastair Cook since Andrew Strauss' retirement in 2012.

"Pretty much since Andrew Strauss retired, as a side no-one’s ever really nailed that spot down," said Broad.

"But there’s opportunities there, I mean Alex Hales averaged over 50 in the county championship last year, which got him a place on the Tour in the UAE.

"He worked incredibly hard there, he’d love some runs in these one-dayers going on at the moment to try and cement that slot."

Lord Coe has been naive - Rooneypublished at 10:17

Coe indicated "rogue elements" may have infiltrated the IAAF, where he was vice-president for eight years.

"It is pretty disrespectful to believe the vice-president did not know what was going on within IAAF," said Rooney.
