    Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Hughes has signed a new two-year contract extension with the club.

    The former Falkirk and Hibs boss has been with the Highland club since December 2013 and steered them to Scottish Cup glory last season.

    Mike Phillips, Wales' most-capped scrum-half, has announced his retirement from international rugby.

    The 33-year-old Racing 92 player has played in 99 Tests - 94 for Wales and five for the British and Irish Lions.

    He scored nine tries for his country and was a key member of the teams that won the Six Nations title in 2013 and Grand Slams in 2008 and 2012.

    Wales were denied a second consecutive win in Euro 2017 qualifying as they conceded a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Israel.

    Manchester City's Natasha Harding scored two second-half goals as Jayne Ludlow's side came from behind, but they were undone by an 83rd minute goal from Rachel Shelina.

    The point leaves Israel third in Group 8, with four points.

    Bolton Wanderers advisor Trevor Birch has described the club’s plight as ‘increasingly perilous’.

    Bolton are bottom of the Championship and it was confirmed yesterday their players have not been paid. Birch says the players are ‘upbeat and committed’.

    He says negotiations over a takeover are continuing but the conditions needed to complete a deal are yet to be met. Owner Eddie Davies is not believed to be willing to fund the club any longer.

    Indian cricket authorities face a fine of up to $15,000 (£9,950) after the pitch used for the third Test between India and South Africa in Nagpur was rated as "poor" by match referee Jeff Crowe.

    Forty wickets fell in three days at the VCA Stadium as India beat South Africa by 124 runs with more than two days to spare in the low-scoring contest to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series.

    The report has been forwarded to the Indian cricket board (BCCI), which now has 14 days to respond. After that, ICC general manager of cricket Geoff Allardice and chief match referee Ranjan Madugalle will rule whether the pitch was poor and whether it warrants a penalty.
