What's the link between Australia and Chelsea I hear you ask?

    Guus Hiddink.

The Dutchman was in charge of the Aussie national team between 2005-06, some three years before he stepped in at Stamford Bridge and took the Blues to the FA Cup.

Jordan Parfitt: Chelsea fan devestated that Jose has gone. Would love to see Alan Pardew given a chance at the Bridge!

King Zorba: Strange to see Emenalo put the boot in given his failings in the transfer market. What happened with Stones, Mr Emenalo?

1970Blue: Emenalo is party wrong: Players should also bear their share in the mess even if Mou is responsible for his share.

Asked about the role of the squad in Mourinho's exit, Emenalo told Chelsea TV:, external "It's very easy to make that inference but it is not one the club accepts.

"Whilst there is huge sentiment for the individual who has done so much for the club, the fact of the matter remains that Chelsea Football Club is in trouble.

"Anyone who loves the club, who has any kind of affiliation to the club, can understand that this club is in trouble, and something needed to be done."

So to Stamford Bridge, where technical director Michael Emenalo has said that the Chelsea players were not to blame for Mourinho's exit.

According to several reports, Mourinho and the Chelsea team had their Christmas lunch before he was summoned at 2pm to be told by chairman Bruce Buck and director Eugene Tenenbaum that his reign was over.
