Ronald Koeman news conferencepublished at 15:15

Southampton v Watford (Wed, 19:45 GMT)

Koeman is asked about his team's recent dodgy form. He says they have had injuries to key players and lost confidence.

He adds: "It is tough in winter. You have to play a lot, and the players don’t really have freshness. You have to make more changes and that makes it difficult. And when you have a lot of defeats, as we have in the last six weeks, then it makes it even harder.

"We have tried to analyse why. We like to play football from the back and if you make a big mistake in building up, the opponents are punishing us. If opponents make a mistake we aren’t punishing them.

"It’s not that we are playing badly. I think we are still playing on a good level, but it’s not good enough. We need to be more clinical."

Now then, it's not been a happy time on the south coast recently.

Southampton have won only one of their last 10 games (weirdly against top-of-the-table Arsenal, thrashing them 3-0).

Which makes tomorrow's clash with Watford, followed Saturday's home game with West Brom, pretty important.

Koeman admits this, telling a news conference at St Mary's: "We are seven points from Europe and seven points from relegation, so it is all about the next two games for me. It will shape the direction for the rest of the season. It could be positive and it could be negative."

No pressure on the players then...

    Stoke City

Stoke manager Mark Hughes is speaking to the media today, previewing Wednesday's Premier League match at home to Norwich.

The Welshman says the first-team players who were rested for Saturday's FA Cup win over Doncaster will return - but Geoff Cameron, Marc Muniesa and Stephen Ireland are all out.

"I always felt that Norwich out of the three who came up would have the most experience for this season," Hughes adds.

"They have a really strong group of players and will probably be glad that they're out of the cup and can concentrate on the league."

    Football

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri says he does not plan to make any more signings in January following the arrival of winger Demarai Gray.

The Foxes are second in the Premier League and chasing Champions League qualification, trailing leaders Arsenal by only two points.

Gray signed from Birmingham for £3.7m and made his debut in Sunday's 2-2 FA Cup third-round draw at Tottenham.

But the Italian manager, 64, said: "The transfer market is finished for us."

"I am only interested in my players and no-one goes away," he added.

Chelsea v West Brom (Wed, 19:45 GMT)

    Chelsea

Eden Hazard won the PFA Player of the Year last season but has not scored in 27 appearances this term.

The Belgian international is still out injured, but Blues boss Guus Hiddink was asked how he plans to get him back to his best.

"For me it is about freshness," Hiddink said. "If the mind is fresh and players are eager and enjoy training it is a signal of freshness.

"At the Ballon d'Or you see the players and the freshness is there. That is what we are aiming for with him as well, he has to enjoy it and get rid of his physical problems, then he will come back.

"It is all individual approaches. One needs an arm, and another needs a pinch a bit. It is different for each player."

"I can certainly knock that on the head and I'm sure I'll be doing the same with some other stories while the transfer window is open," Bruce told BBC Radio Humberside.
