'It's good business to sell Shelvey'published at 13:24

Former Swansea City winger Leighton James is not sad to see Jonjo Shelvey departing the Liberty Stadium.

Newcastle United have agreed a £12m fee with Swansea for the 23-year-old England midfielder.

Shelvey’s performances this season have frustrated many Swansea fans, including ex-Wales international James.

“I think that’s good business for a player who doesn’t give me the impression that his heart and soul is in Swansea,” James told BBC Wales Sport.

“He’s a one in five, one in six player – a bit like his passing. For me he hits one great 40 yard pass and then the next four or five times gives the ball away.

“He’s not the kind of player I’d want to see battling in a relegation fight.”

Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala, Fernandinho, Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony are all out injured, he says.

"Mangala tried to work yesterday with normality but he couldn’t. He had some pain in his muscle. For him, it’s best to wait.

"It's the same for Fernandinho and Bony. For Nasri and Kompany, we will have to wait longer. Vincent is trying a lot of different things to try and find the cause of the injury so we have no update at this time."
