What does Jurgen Klopp think about derby matches then?

"I love derbies, they are the salt in the soup," said the German. Always great value for a quote, is Klopp.

And he has been praising the past and present managers of rivals Manchester United.

"Louis van Gaal is one of most successful managers in the world. He has a special idea about football. Maybe Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest ever - the John Lennon of football. I had really good moments with Sir Alex. It was an honour to talk with him."

Should be interesting as Sunday will be Klopp's first taste of a Liverpool v Manchester United game. He will have watched many before on television, surely, but if he is looking for intensity, he will certainly find it on Sunday.

We await team news, but Klopp will have been encouraged by the way his side kept going against Arsenal on Wednesday. United were involved in a thriller of their own so can we expect another one at the weekend?

Roberto Martinez turns his thoughts to the challenge of a somewhat renewed Chelsea under the guidance of interim boss Guus Hiddink.

"Chelsea are a team full of winning footballers, they can produce something magic out of the nothing.

"But we still want to be ourselves and be able to performance in the way we've been doing away from home this season.

"We want to win games - the amount of draws we've got in the league has stopped us from being in a better position in the table."

Everton's 'reward' for a battling draw at Man City is a trip to Chelsea and Roberto Martinez has plenty of teams news to deliver ahead of Saturday's game."Tom Cleverley is recovering well but I'd say he's 50/50 to be involved in the Chelsea game.

"James McCarthy has started to do some good work and is not far away but won't be involved and the same goes for Seamus Coleman.

"We'll have the exact same squad as we had against Man City and it's going to be a tough mental and physical challenge with two tough away games in one week."

Everton boss Roberto Martinez also had some generous words for Tim Howard after the goalkeeper bounced back from a poor run of form with a stellar showing against Manchester City on Wednesday.

"Tim Howard showed how important he is for our team - as a goalkeeper you will always be judged on those big moments," he said.

"But he's more than just a goalkeeper, he's an experienced player and a key member of our squad. Our young players are playing well down to his advice and calm nature."

"We've made an initial approach but I wouldn't be that disrespectful to another club to discuss that further.

"There has been a Premier League club that has made progress towards the transfer of Steven Naismith, but no deal has been agreed. But for us the priority is to get him fit."
