Hiddink has eased Chelsea crisis - Zhirkovpublished at 12:15

    Football

Former Chelsea defender Yuri Zhirkov says interim manager Guus Hiddink has calmed the crisis at Stamford Bridge.

Previous boss Jose Mourinho was sacked with the club 16th in the table and having lost nine of their 16 matches, whereupon Hiddink took over. The Blues are now 13th and unbeaten in six league games under Hiddink.

"I have no doubt that once he took over, the atmosphere at Chelsea became so much better and more relaxed than it had been," Zhirkov said. "With Guus, Chelsea will ride out the crisis and next season will be back at the top of the table."

George Groves is past his best, says Andrea di Luisa, the man who will fight him in London on Saturday.

Groves, 27, has fought for world super-middleweight titles three times, but lost them all - twice against Carl Froch and once against Badou Jack.

“I don’t believe George is the same fighter as he was before those fights against Froch and Jack,” said 33-year-old Italian Di Luisa. “He is a good boxer, a good fighter, but I’m ready for anything. I’m in London to win.”

"He’s had a few chances to be a World champion but hasn’t succeeded."

Scotland favourites to beat England - Jonespublished at 11:25

    Rugby Union: Six Nations launch

England boss Eddie Jones says Scotland will start as favourites when the two sides meet at Murrayfield in next month's Six Nations opening round.

Scotland's World Cup performances and the fact they have a settled side give them the advantage, according to Jones.

"We've only had six training sessions together so there is an enormous pressure on Scotland to perform and not so much on us," he said. "The bookies might have us as favourites but Scotland have to be."

The sides meet for the Calcutta Cup on Saturday, 6 February (16:50 GMT).
