England one-day wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings has signed an extension to his contract with Kent.

Peterborough boss Graham Westley said his players need to take inspiration from 'The Revenant' following their 1-0 home defeat by Burton. 

In the Oscar-nominated film, actor Leonardo Di Caprio plays Hugh Glass, who has to fight for survival after being attacked by a bear.

"You can see in that film what a human being can do if his motivation and desire is sufficient," Westley told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

An interesting line coming out of the US this morning: the NFL is to investigate claims that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning used banned human growth hormone.

The allegations were made by broadcaster Al Jazeera and Manning has described them as "complete garbage".

Manning will be aiming to lead the Broncos to victory in Superbowl 50, which as we mentioned is live on the BBC on 7 February.

Anthony Martial has the attributes to be among Manchester United's best-ever strikers, says clubmate Daley Blind.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva will be operating at 100% by the end of the season, says manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Silva had a six-week lay-off with an ankle problem prior to the minor knock he picked up in the League Cup semi-final first leg 2-1 loss to Everton on 6 January.

Limited to just 13 Premier League starts this campaign, Silva has scored two goals and registered eight assists and his manager expects him to get better. 

"David has had different injuries during the season. But now he is feeling better so I hope he will finish the season in his best performance," Pellegrini said.

Drama at the Australian Open. France's Gael Monfils has snatched the second set 6-3 to level proceedings against Canadian Milos Raonic.

Exactly 25 years ago today, the New York Giants defeated the Buffalo Bills 20-19 in Super Bowl XXV.

Bills kicker Scott Norwood had a last-second place kick to clinch victory, but sent it wide right of the posts - starting a four-game Super Bowl losing streak for the Bills.

County champions Yorkshire have re-signed New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson for part of the 2016 season. 

The 25-year-old will be available for for three Championship games, eight in the T20 Blast and three in the One-Day Cup between 9 June and 18 July.

"His value as a player is beyond question," said Yorkshire head coach Jason Gillespie.

Perfect for Liverpool fans, but it may be painful listening for Stoke supporters.

Interviewing footballers is not always the easiest thing, and it is not helped when the team are in a party mood after securing their place in a Wembley final.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen spoke to BBC Radio 5 live minutes after his side’s Capital One Cup semi-final penalty shoot-out victory over Stoke City. His interview competed with chants from exuberant team-mates in the background singing a popular song about Kolo and Yaya Toure.

The Welshman, who scored the winning penalty, said: "Sometimes it's more exciting to get through like this. It's not good for the stress, but the atmosphere afterwards was electric".

The Reds won 6-5 on penalties and will play Manchester City or Everton at Wembley on 28 February.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes, unsurprisingly, disagreed with Klopp's assessment that Liverpool deserved to progress.

"I thought we were by far the better team," he said. "We were behind in the tie and I'm proud of what the players produced.

"Nobody gave us a chance - why they would do that I don't know. We've proved for a couple of years that we're a good team. I think Liverpool were delighted to go to penalties and then it's a lottery.

"We got a win on paper - goodness knows how long it's been since we won here - but the objective was to get to a Wembley final which we didn't."
