Scotland's Gordon Reid has been "shocked" by the reaction of well-wishers following his Australian Open wheelchair singles title victory.

Reid, 24, who contracted Transverse Myelitis - a disease affecting the spinal chord - aged 13, defeated Joachim Gerard in Melbourne.

"It's been a good couple of weeks," Reid told BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland programme. "It was a nice feeling: it's been a great week for Scottish tennis."

West Brom assistant David Kemp has urged Baggies fans to support the team after Albion were jeered and chants of 'you don't know what you're doing' during Tuesday's home draw with Swansea.

"Fans pay their money but I don't quite understand that [booing]," said Kemp.

"In the old days, when I was a young man, fans came along to cheer their heroes, now they seem to wait for an opportunity to have a bit of a moan. You want the fans to be your 12th man. I don't think the booing helps, that's my own personal opinion."

How do Leicester City play a 4-4-2 formation without getting outnumbered in midfield?

The answer is surely N'Golo Kante. The fans at the King Power Stadium have been astonished by his work-rate, tireless running and ability to turn defence into attack. With more interceptions than any other player in the Premier League, the 24 year-old has become the driving force of Claudio Ranieri's team.

His £5.6m move from Caen went under the radar but, since coming on as sub when Leicester were two down against Aston Villa in September, Kante has never looked back. The Frenchman didn't score in the 3-2 comeback but his energetic performance arguably changed the game. Since then it’s been one consistent performance after another.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez make the headlines but without Kante, Leicester would probably not be title contenders.

But why so few Europeans?published at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2016

While the likes of Ramires, Fredi Guarin, Gervinho and Jackson Martinez have left Europe’s biggest leagues for China, conspicuous by their absence on football’s silk road have been European players. Only one, Serbian Nikola Petkovic, has moved to China so far in 2016.

The main reason for that, according to former China coach Alain Perrin, is geography.

“It’s the distance between China and European countries,” the 59-year-old recently told the World Football programme. “But life is nice here. I think that in the future, if the level is better, maybe we can attract younger [European] players.”

With 23 days until China’s transfer window shuts, there’s plenty of time for that to happen.

So Atletico Madrid forward Jackson Martinez is the latest high-profile player to leave one of Europe's top leagues for China. But why the sudden rash of moves?

China’s biggest companies have realised serious riches lie in football marketing - Alibaba, the country's best known corporation, own half of reigning Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande.

In January, the chief executive of Ali Sport, the sports marketing off-shoot of Alibaba, met with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes and Jose Mourinho in Shanghai. Now, Martinez, a Mendes client, is off to Guangzhou and many expect his compatriot and Mendes stablemate Radamel Falcao to follow him eastward.
