US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III believes Tiger Woods can play in this year's match with Europe, but his injuries have been "underestimated".
Woods, 40, has not played competitively since August and has had three back operations in the last 18 months. His agent recently denied reports that the 14-time major winner had suffered a setback with his rehabilitation.
Love told BBC Sport Today: "If he can play 10 or 12 tournaments in a row, I think he can get his game back and make our team."

BBC One
The fortunes of non-league football club Salford City FC, and their five famous owners are set to return to our screens as BBC One today announces a second series of Class of 92: Out of their League.
The successful first series, which aired last autumn, followed the ups and downs of Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville with their new non-league club.
The new two-part series will air on BBC One later this year.
County cricket
Hampshire have signed Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi for this summer's T20 Blast.
He last played for the county in 2011, when they reached the semi-finals.
Football
As well as the Champions League last night, there was plenty of domestic action in England and Scotland.
Partick Thistle beat St Johnstone 2-0 to lift them up to eighth in the Scottish Premiership.
Dundee thrashed Dumbarton 5-0 to set up a Scottish Cup quarter-final visit to Rangers.
Hull City maintained their one-point lead at the top of the Championship with a 1-0 victory at Ipswich Town.
League Two leaders Northampton's record-breaking run extended to 10 straight league wins following a 2-1 win over York.
Tennis
But British number two Heather Watson is out of the women's event after losing in the first round.
Watson won the first set of her match in Acapulco against America's Christina McHale 6-4. However, she lost the second 6-0 and went out after losing the third set tie-break 7-1.
Tennis
British number two Aljaz Bedene reached the second round of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco after his opponent Ivo Karlovic was forced to retire.
The world number 54 was leading 6-4 1-2 when the big-serving Croatian Karlovic called a halt to proceedings.

Last night, with Arsenal 1-0 down to Barcelona in the final 10 minutes, boss Arsene Wenger brought Mathieu Flamini on to shore up the Gunners midfield.
But 47 seconds later he conceded a penalty which Lionel Messi scored to put the tie almost beyond doubt.

Mixed martial arts
Conor McGregor will fight Nate Diaz on 5 March after his Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight world title bout with Rafael dos Anjos was called off.
Brazilian title holder Dos Anjos pulled out of the Las Vegas bout after injuring a foot in training.
Featherweight champion McGregor was aiming to be the first UFC fighter to hold two world titles at the same time.
His fight against Californian Diaz is actually at welterwight - another weight up again, although it is not a title fight.
