Former Liverpool favourite Robbie Fowler is working towards his Uefa Pro Licence in a bid to break into management.
The 40-year-old's playing career ended in 2012 but his only managerial post has been as player-boss at Muangthong United.
He told the Liverpool Echo: "I've got the other coaching badges and now I'm doing the Pro Licence, which is the highest one you can do.
"I started it in January and it will take around a year. By next June I should have completed it. Everyone knows I want to be a manager. It's what I have always longed for and I am almost there now."

Former Sunderland player Cabral is to go on trial accused of two counts of rape.
The midfielder, real name Adilson Tavares Varela, was arrested on 25 January 2015 after the alleged incident and was subsequently charged with two counts of rape.
The 27-year-old will stand trial at Newcastle Crown Court on 25 April.
Cabral, who currently plays for FC Zurich, only made one Premier League appearance for Sunderland in 2013-14.

Bolton go to Bristol City on Saturday under new ownership after a Holdsworth-led consortium, Sports Shield Group, completed a takeover on Friday.
The club needed a third stay of execution from a High Court judge last week when faced with a winding-up petition from Revenue and Customs.
New chief executive Holdsworth, a former Wanderers player, offered no assurances over Lennon's future last week and the former Celtic boss departs on the back of a seven-game winless run which has left Bolton on the brink of relegation to League One.
They are also yet to win away in the Championship this season, having lost 14 of their 18 games on the road.
Carlisle United have confirmed a male has been banned from Brunton Park until the end of the season after a smoke grenade caused their match at Exeter City to be stopped and a stand evacuated.
Saturday's game was halted after just nine minutes when smoke was seen coming from behind the Stagecoach Stand.
“The matter remains in the hands of the authorities, but we have taken this step to send a further message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated," Carlisle's media officer Andy Hall said in a statement, external on the club's website.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has dismissed the suggestion the Premier League title race is a straight fight between his side and Tottenham.
The Foxes are five points clear at the top with eight games left after beating Newcastle 1-0 on Monday.
Tottenham lie in second with Arsenal 11 points behind the leaders, and fourth-placed Manchester City 12 off the pace.
Asked if only Leicester or Spurs could be champions, Ranieri said: "No, the race is open. We are fighting for Europe and then maybe with four or five matches left, maybe we are fighting for the Champions League."
