    Juventus' hopes of holding on to Paul Pogba have been given a boost following his agent's comments that he could sign a new deal.

    Pogba, 23, is open to signing a new and improved contract with Juventus if no major offers come in at the end of the season, report Four Four Two., external

    The France international's current deal runs until June 2019, but clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea are believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

    World champion Adam Peaty says athletes who deliberately take restricted substances to enhance their performance should be banned for life.

    Swimmers currently face permanent bans only if they fail a second test after serving a suspension for an earlier, separate, offence.

    Earlier this month, The Times alleged widespread doping programmes are in operation in Russia and China.

    "It should be a life ban," Peaty told BBC Sport.

    Conor McGregor has been given the chance to avenge his loss to Nate Diaz in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

    The two mixed martial artists will meet again in another welterweight contest at UFC 200 in Las Vegas on 9 July.

    American Diaz handed McGregor his first defeat in the UFC earlier this month when he choked the featherweight champion into submission.

    UFC boss Dana White said he urged McGregor to fight Diaz at a lower weight but the Irishman was against it.

    Rights group Amnesty International has accused Qatar of using forced labour at a flagship World Cup 2022 stadium.

    Amnesty says workers at Khalifa International Stadium are forced to live in squalid accommodation, pay huge recruitment fees and have had wages withheld and passports confiscated.

    It also accuses Fifa of "failing almost completely" to stop the tournament being "built on human rights abuses".

    Qatar said it was "concerned" by the allegations and would investigate.

    Annika Sorenstam says she is going to have "fun" being European captain at the 2017 Solheim Cup.

    Vice-captain when the United States regained the trophy last year in Germany, the 45-year-old Swede said: "I can not tell you how excited I am.

    "I had hoped and dreamed that this opportunity would come along. This is really going to be a lot of fun."

    Europe will attempt to win back the trophy at Des Moines Golf Club in Iowa next August.

    British number one Johanna Konta was beaten in the Miami Open quarter-finals by an in-form Victoria Azarenka.

    Konta, the first British woman to reach the last eight of the tournament, was beaten 6-4 6-2 by her Belarusian opponent in just over 90 minutes.

    World number eight Azarenka, 26, is on course for back-to-back titles after beating Serena Williams in Indian Wells earlier this month.

    England captain Eoin Morgan hailed the team's "amazing turnaround" after they reached the World Twenty20 final.

    A seven-wicket win over New Zealand took Morgan's side into Sunday's final against India or West Indies - 12 months after England exited the World Cup at the group stage.

    "Everybody involved has worked tirelessly to get us to this stage and to get us to play in this fashion," Morgan said.

    "We've come out and we've delivered."

    Valencia announced the sacking of manager Gary Neville on Wednesday, as the former Manchester United and England defender lasted just four months in Spain.

    The 41-year-old, who is part of the England coaching set-up, was given his first managerial job in December.

    Valencia won three of their 16 league games under the former television pundit, and 10 of 28 games overall.
