Fifty-four managers have been sacked in England's top four divisions this season, according to League Managers' Association boss Richard Bevan.

He said the figure was the highest since 2001, with only five of those managers now back in work.

"It's another very relentless, disappointing and embarrassing season for the sport," Bevan told BBC Radio Four's Today Programme.

Twelve managers also quit, with Bevan claiming: "It's the worst season ever."

Manchester United and Bournemouth will be allowed to name completely different sides for tomorrow night’s rearranged Premier League game at Old Trafford.

Although the teams had been selected for Sunday’s postponed game, the respective clubs will not be bound by that, although United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will still be unavailable as he serves the final game of his three match ban.

United could technically still qualify for the Champions League, although it would require victory by a club record 19 goals.

Chelsea manager-elect Antonio Conte has been cleared of any wrongdoing in a match fixing scandal from 2011.

The 46-year-old, who will lead Italy at Euro 2016 next month, was accused of doing nothing to halt a scandal while in charge of Italian side Siena.

However a judge in Cremona acquitted Conte because the accusations of sporting fraud were baseless.

Conte, who served a ban in connection with the case in 2012, will take charge of Chelsea after the Euros.

England's Sarah Taylor is taking an indefinite break from cricket for personal reasons.

The wicketkeeper-batter, 26, has been a key part of the England set-up since making her international debut in 2006.

She is England's third highest one-day international run-scorer and second only to Charlotte Edwards in T20 games.

In October last year, Sussex's Taylor, who took a four-month sabbatical in 2010, became the first woman to play in Australian first-grade cricket.
