Great Britain's athletes have been set a minimum target of winning 48 medals, which would make Rio their most successful overseas Olympics.

Sport statistics company Infostrada is forecasting Team GB will finish fourth in the Rio 2016 medal table with 51 - 18 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze.

World champion Mo Farah will be attempting to defend his 5,000m and 10,000m titles and fellow defending Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will be up against team-mate Katarina Johnson-Thompson in the women's heptathlon.

Nicola Adams, who became the first British woman to win Olympic boxing gold in London, will be out to defend her title, while cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins could become Britain's most decorated Olympian with gold in the men's team pursuit.

Swimmer Adam Peaty, taekwondo's Bianca Walkden, cyclist Laura Trott, sailor Giles Scott and shooter Amber Hill are among Britain's gold medal prospects in Rio.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been discussing his side's Champions League play-off draw, which sees them face Hapoel Beer-Sheva of Israel over two legs for a place in the group phase.

The Bhoys are aiming to reach the group stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2013-14.

"Any of the teams would have been tough, but we will accept the challenge and God willing we can perform well and get through," said Rodgers. You certainly have to plan forward. We have a six-hour flight and a couple of hours' time difference.

"All in all, it will be tough. They had a good result in their last round and, like ourselves, they came through so it is all to play for."

Some quotes from Liverpool midfielder James Milner, who has retired from international football with England.

Milner, 30, who played for England 61 times, had a discussion with new England boss Sam Allardyce recently.

“I would like to thank Sam for taking the time to come and see me in person and have the conversation face-to-face, regarding my international future and role within the England set-up," the former Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Manchester City midfielder told theFA.com., external

“I think the decision we have reached is all about common sense. I wish Sam, the players, staff and supporters success in the future.”

We mentioned it earlier on, and now confirmation that South Korean world champion Kim Woo-jin set Rio 2016's first world record of with a score of 700 in the 72-arrow ranking round.

The 24-year-old's score exceeded the mark of 699 set by his countryman Im Dong-Hyun at London 2012.

Patrick Huston was the first Briton in competitive action at the Games, finishing 38th out of 64 archers.

The ranking round decides the draw for the Olympic round, in which archers compete in a knockout tournament.

A supporters' group says English Football League fans are about the cost of tickets for away games, with some paying 40% more than Premier League prices.

In March, Premier League clubs agreed to cap away ticket prices at £30.

But seven of the Championship's 24 teams will be charging more than that for their first away game this season.

Aston Villa fans at Sheffield Wednesday face the highest cost, with the cheapest adult ticket selling for £42.

The cost has promoted Villa fans to arrange protests at the game, with some planning to attend wearing robbers' masks, external at Hillsborough.

Rafael Benitez's Newcastle United begin life back in the EFL with a trip to west London to face Fulham.

The Magpies are among the favourites to seal an immediate return to the top flight, with Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie among eight summer arrivals.

Fulham saw Moussa Dembele and Ross McCormack, who scored 40 goals between them in 2015-16 depart this summer.

Centre-back Tomas Kalas and forward Sone Aluko are among seven signings set for their debuts.

The Whites finished 20th in the Championship table last season, 11 points above the relegation zone.

2012: Jamaica's Usain Bolt won Olympic gold in the men's 100 metres.

England have fought back well after lunch as they have taken five wickets to bowl Pakistan out for 400 at Edgbaston.

There's been a bit of controversy with England bowler Jimmy Anderson given a third warning for for running on to the pitch, which meant he had to be taken out of the attack.

The Rio 2016 rowing regatta gets under way on Saturday and one of the more interesting heats to watch will be the women's double sculls, which feature Great British defending champion Katherine Grainger and her new partner Vicky Thornley.

Grainger won gold in London alongside Anna Watkins, took two years off and then decided to go to Rio but the 40-year-old and Thornley, 28, have struggled to click this season.

Could a poor performance here tarnish her legacy, after finally winning gold in London at a fourth attempt? That was the question put to Sir Steve Redgrave by BBC rowing commentator in our Facebook Live , externalearlier.

Redgrave said: "She will feel it's tarnished if she doesn't win a medal, but in my eyes, not at all. 

"She's the defending champion, Vicky has won a bronze at the world championships before so although it's one of the weaker boats in the GB team, I would be slightly but not overly surprised if they won a medal."

British world road cycling champion Lizzie Armitstead believes people will "forever" doubt if she is a clean athlete after missing three drug tests.

The 27-year-old was suspended and faced missing the Olympics before the first test was declared void.

Speaking before Sunday's road race, a tearful Armitstead told BBC Sport she would "never cheat in life".

"In this situation I'm never going to win. If I win, people will say it's because of something else," she added.
