It's rehearsal day for broadcasters at the gymnastics arena and, as this picture shows, it's a very serious day.

Volunteers are standing in as judges and gymnasts (though they don't have to perform on the apparatuses). It's quite bizzare to watch - a volunteer holds up a sign, pretending that an invisible Switzerland team are following her - which is why I'm heading to the velodrome...

"Austria, Germany, Australia, Kazhakstan," a BBC colleague shouts out the flags draped on flats at the athlete village as we drive past.

There are a few cycling athletes out for their loosening rides on this stretch of road and again it's a case of identifying kits.

Our driver though is Brazilian and says: "If you see Argentina let me know and I will..."

With this his body language seems to imply he'd nudge the rider off. Rivalry, it knows no limits.

We are on our way to Deodoro and apparently the size of this venue - home to 11 sports - is colossal. Yesterday turned into a competition as to who has walked the furthest on site. One more day to find where everything is. Tomorrow it's all for real.

'One or two things can happen'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

    Football

Liverpool play Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday before travelling to Germany to face Mainz, who are one of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp's former clubs.

"Marko Grujic is now back and Joel Matip is available too. Lucas is doubtful," said Klopp.

"The game against Mainz could be, intensity wise, more than Barcelona. It’s a big game for them. It’s good."

On transfer activity, he added: "Maybe one or two things can happen."

'Mourinho criticises unethical manager rivals'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

Leicester City v Manchester United (Sunday, 16:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at AON Training Complex

No beating about the bush at Jose Mourinho's first Manchester United press conference at the club's AON Training Complex this afternoon.

Press conference one, question one. What is happening with Bastian Schweinsteiger?

Jose was ready with his answer. "It is his decision" and from there he spoke with assurance about Paul Pogba, saying he didn't want to talk about him until "officially" he isn't a Juventus player, but adding that he expects his transfer business to be wrapped up by the time his team face AFC Bournemouth next Sunday.

He also said a couple of his Premier League managerial rivals are 'unethical' for speaking about United's transfer business. Mourinho did not say who he meant but in recent days Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said the proposed £100m+ fee for Pogba is 'completely crazy', while Jurgen Klopp said the day such transfers became commonplace was a day 'I am not in a job any more'.

Klopp on Benteke futurepublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

    Football

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, whose side will play Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday, has been chatting about the future of striker Christian Benteke and it seems he will only let the Belgium international go if the price is right.

"Everyone knows about it and I think Christian Benteke has already said it that maybe it makes sense for him to go to another club," said Klopp.

"He is still a great striker. We have a few more strikers and makes more sense for us to give them match time and that's what we have done.

"If clubs want our strikers then they have to make real offers otherwise we will find solutions.

"If there is an offer we will think about it. If not, we will think about it."

'We are going to get a very good midfielder'published at 14:18 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

Leicester City v Manchester United (Sunday, 16:00 BST)

Some more from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, talking about his club's transfer policy.

"We decided to bring in four players not 10, but four who are Manchester United level and we think can really improve the squad.

"A young defender (Eric Bailly) that needs time to be a top one but who has top potential. A creative player (Henrikh Mkhitaryan) that we know the quality, a super striker (Zlatan Ibrahimovic) and we are going to get a very good midfielder.

"Our market was good. We try for balance. I am happy with my squad. I am happy with the effort of the club."

'We have 22, we will have 23'published at 14:06 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

Leicester City v Manchester United (Sunday, 16:00 BST)

Manchester United, as they have been all summer, are still linked with a move for former United midfielder Paul Pogba, who could well move from Juventus in a world record transfer.

United boss Jose Mourinho says he wants to add another player to his squad.

"We have 22 now, we will have 23," he said today. "I don't like to speak about other clubs' players. Other nanagers like to do that, but the only thing that matters is my house. He (Pogba) is a Juventus player until officially he isn't.

"The market closes on 31 August and we are trying to do everything to close the market as quickly as possible, before 14 August. Normally that would mean next week."

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media and is asked about the future at the club of Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has been training with the club's under-23s.

"What is happening? It happens at every club on the world. The manager decides his squad," said Mourinho.

"I choose a certain number of players to face the season, that is it. I like to work with 20+3 keepers - I have done it for 15 years.

"We have so many players but so many competitions and the Europa League changes a lot. We could play 15 matches in it, on Thursdays, and there is normally Premier League on Sundays. I have made a decision to have 23+3. It is still a lot. I had to make my decisions."

Leicester City's top-flight title win last season was a fairytale story but manager Claudio Ranieri is not wasting any time reminiscing.

His side play Manchester United in the Community Shield on Sunday.

“I forgot what happened last season," said the Italian. "Now my focus is on the new season. We're ambitious but know it will be very hard.

“I expect a very strong Manchester United team and very well organised.”

The Foxes shocked the football world by winning the Premier League title last season and will play FA Cup winners United in the traditional curtain raiser to the season.

“This is not a friendly," said Ranieri. "We will give the maximum and also Manchester Untied will too. Both teams want to win it.”

Pogba, Schweinsteiger, Januzaj, Ranieri, Manchester United. So many topics for boss Jose Mourinho to discuss as he holds his first news conference at United’s training ground.

This is the regular venue for United’s media briefings.

Before the Jimmy Murphy Building was constructed, Sir Alex Ferguson used to hold them in the room used for families of academy players. David Moyes preferred to deal with media in smaller groups; TV, radio and written press.

Louis van Gaal spoke to them altogether, in here, where he famously attacked ‘Big Sam’ Allardyce when the now England manager suggested his tactics weren’t so great.
