  2. Man City could sell trio who cost £85mpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

There will be departures at Manchester City before the transfer deadline - and it seems fairly obvious who will be near the top of the list.

In the amusement over City naming John Stones in their Champions League squad before he had completed his £47.5m move from Everton on Tuesday, it has largely been ignored that striker Wilfried Bony and defender Eliaquim Mangala were left out.

Mangala cost City £32m when he joined from Porto two years ago, whilst Bony has struggled to make an impact since his £28m move from Swansea 18 months ago.

Add in midfielder Samir Nasri, who manager Pep Guardiola said had returned for pre-season training overweight, and it is fair to assume there will be at least three high-profile figures heading through the exit door.

  4. 'We have shown the club is serious'published at 11:20 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic says keeping Dimitri Payet is a statement of intent as they move into the London Stadium.

"In keeping Dimitri Payet we have shown the club is serious and trying to get to another level, as much or even more than with the new stadium," Bilic told Sky Sports News.

"West Ham was always labelled as a club that has to sell its best players, be it Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand or whoever. But we have kept Dimi, and we have shown to everyone that the club is thinking seriously."

  7. Carvalho released by Monacopublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Monaco have released defender Ricardo Carvalho, 38.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid centre-back was part of the Portugal squad who won Euro 2016.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev revealed this week that he would not be getting a new deal.

While I was researching that, I found that Radamel Falcao is out for a few weeks with an injury picked up against Fenerbahce in the least surprising news ever.

Which recently appointed Premier League boss will have the best impact?

Tom Wright: So excited to see Conte at Chelsea. Meticulous, tactical manager, he'll get them working as a team full of graft AND quality

ClockedToffee: I expect Moyes to do well. He'll have the Black Cats battling for 'best of the rest' rather than fighting the drop.

  11. Big Wes backs new Ranieri dealpublished at 10:19 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan has been talking to BBC Radio 5 live this morning about Claudio Ranieri’s new four-year deal.

"It’s fantastic news – everyone’s delighted about it. He played a big part in our success last season and all the boys are right behind him. He’s a fantastic manager, a fantastic person, and he deserves that contract."

  12. Everton aim for triple signingpublished at 10:09 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Everton are in discussions to sign Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie and Sunderland defender Lamine Kone, as they close in on a deal for Wales captain Ashley Williams.

Swansea centre-half Williams, 31, is having a medical before a £12m move to Goodison Park.

The trio would become the first major signings for new manager Ronald Koeman.

DR Congo international Bolasie, 27, has scored nine goals in 89 Premier League appearances.

Ivory Coast's Lamine Kone, also 27, who joined Sunderland from French side Lorient in January, scored twice against Everton in May to save the Black Cats from relegation.

  13. 'Asensio put in a complete performance'published at 09:59 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane on last night's Super Cup win over Sevilla: "A player like Sergio Ramos always makes the difference. I told him to push up a bit more towards the end and he was exactly where he needed to be.

"We've got a big enough squad, that's for sure. If we're not able to sign anyone we've got the numbers in the squad and there are four of five who weren't here today.

"Marco Asensio put in a complete performance, it wasn't all about the goal, which in itself was fantastic. When you give a player confidence and they respond in the best possible way, we're all happy."

  14. Real Madrid win dramatic Uefa Super Cuppublished at 09:52 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Real Madrid won a thrilling Uefa Super Cup in Norway last night, with Sevilla losing for the third year in a row.

European champions Real won 3-2 in extra time, with Dani Carvajal scoring a fine solo goal a minute from the end.

Zinedine Zidane's side had almost lost the game in regular time, with Sergio Ramos scoring an injury-time equaliser.

Earlier, Marco Anensio had put Real ahead with an excellent strike from distance but Franco Vazquez and Yevhen Konoplyanka turned it around, before Ramos struck.

Sevilla lost 5-4 to Barcelona last year, also in extra time, and were beaten by Real again in 2014.

  17. Sunderland to sign Man Utd pairpublished at 09:26 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

A day after they paid a world record £89m for Paul Pogba, it looks as though the exodus from Manchester United has begun.

I am hearing Paddy McNair and Donald Love will be joining former United manager David Moyes at Sunderland.

McNair made his United breakthrough under Moyes' successor Louis van Gaal.

The defender made 27 appearances in two seasons for the Dutchman and made it into Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 squad.

He has been deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho though, so it seems the 21-year-old is on his way to the Stadium of Light, along with Love, also 21, whose only Premier League appearance for United came as a substitute at Sunderland last season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on the new Friday night Premier League games: "I’d like it a bit more compact, but now the first game can be Monday with the last game being Monday.

"If you want more money, you have to give something. And the consequence of that is that the games are much more spread out than before."

  19. 'We live in a bubble'published at 09:12 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was asked about reported agent fees: "It’s quite interesting to notice that despite all the money we have in England, not much has happened in the transfer market.

"There was a couple of big ones but not many others.

"I don’t know what is healthy and what is not healthy. We live in a bubble. If you compare it to real life, it’s a big question mark."

  20. Wenger not certain about futurepublished at 09:07 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was on BBC Radio 5 live this morning and was asked about the England job.

"My contract runs until the end of the season. What I will do after will depend a little bit on how the season goes; but I was not available (for the England job) and Sam Allardyce has signed for two years so the question is not of any actuality at the moment."
