As well as Manchester City, we'll have word from Watford, West Ham and Sunderland swimming down your internet very soon indeed.

  2. Pep Guardiola news conferencepublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Stoke v Man City (12:30 BST)

On the pitch, it has been a good start to Pep Guardiola’s reign, off it he is having to navigate his way through some tricky questioning about Joe Hart in particular.

Guardiola doesn’t give the impression he likes explaining why he has made certain decisions and prefers instead talking about the different ways he likes to set up his team.

The former Barcelona coach knows however, that leaving out England’s number one goalkeeper, is big news – and will continue to be so until what seems like an inevitable departure before the 31 August, externaltransfer deadline.

Expect that line of inquiry to continue when Guardiola speaks to the media at 13:30BST ahead of his side’s visit to Stoke.

  4. Antonio Conte news conferencepublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Watford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Even on outgoing transfers, Antonio Conte is keeping schtum.

Will Loic Remy be going out on loan? Why wasn't Juan Cuadrado in the squad on Monday?

"We are waiting. Because the situation must become more clear. Now he [Cuadrado] is Chelsea's player and today he had training with us.

"About the transfer policy it is right to speak only with the club. I have contact every day."

  5. Antonio Conte news conferencepublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Watford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Antonio Conte is asked about his targets for the season. What would be a success?

"A team like Chelsea must fight for the title until the end of the season. But we know also that we arrive with a season not so good and we are working very hard to improve the situation.

"I must be honest - if you ask me the real target of the squad now it's very difficult to say. We need to answer game-by-game."

  6. Antonio Conte news conferencepublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Watford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

    Any updates on transfers Antonio?

What about Dinamo Zagreb keeper Eduardo and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly - who have both been linked?

"It's very difficult to speak about the transfer policy. But I repeat, we are waiting for the right solution to improve Chelsea. I think we need to sign some players and we are working to find the right solution."

  7. Aitor Karanka news conferencepublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Sunderland v Middlesbrough (Sun, 13:30 BST)

    Middlesbrough

Is there any update on Martin de Roon's injury? The Belgian midfielder had to come off with a hamstring problem about 20 minutes into his Boro debut against Stoke.

"De Roon will be out for one or two weeks but hopefully he will be back after the international break," Karanka says.

And there's praise for three more of the club's 10 summer signings.

"I was very pleased with Antonio Barragan. He is going to be a very important player for us this season. Gaston [Ramirez] was one of our first targets this summer. He is an amazing player and I hope he is going to be better every game.

"It was really important for Alvaro Negredo to score. I always said he was a top player but he needed to recover his confidence."

Watford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Did you see Antonio Conte booming along the touchline and into the fans as Chelsea got their late winner against West Ham on Monday? Here the Italian explains all:

"I am a passionate man. I live the game with great passion. I play with my players and I want to feel this from them. Also sometimes when you score an important goal and win you can celebrate. I am not able to keep my emotion. [Laughs] I know that is strange, but I am this.

"We must maintain this mentality and this will to win. It's important if we want a good season."

  9. Antonio Conte news conferencepublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Watford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Here he is. Antonio Conte really does have interesting hair doesn't he? That lustrous pelt would have fetched a fortune in Victorian times.

"Tomorrow I expect a good game but it is a dangerous game for us. We have to pay attention, face it with the right intensity and focus on sending the right message. We need that for our confidence."

  10. Aitor Karanka news conferencepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Sunderland v Middlesbrough (Sun, 13:30 BST)

    Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka is more punctual.

His side go into Sunday's match at Sunderland on the back of a positive performance - but a 1-1 draw - at home to Stoke on Saturday.

"It is my first derby," Karanka says. "I have heard how big and important this game is for everyone. But for us it is another three points.

"Everybody was really pleased after the Stoke game. We have to keep working harder every day. Everybody is fit to play except for Grant Leadbitter and Marten de Roon."

  11. Antonio Conte news conferencepublished at 12:34

Watford v Chelsea (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

There's a lovely little poster of a smiling Antonio Conte draped across one of those mini whiteboards that features in all your nightmares about office team-building exercises or - worse still - brainstorming. Is there an updated term for that?

This one carries the tag line: A new era begins. The cameras are poised, but no sign of Conte yet.

  16. Brown retires from Scotland dutypublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Scotland captain Scott Brown announced his retirement from international duty earlier this morning. Unsurprisingly his manager at Celtic Brendan Rodgers has welcomed the decision

"For Scott it’s obviously sad when it comes to an end but it’s certainly good news for Celtic," Rodgers said.

"It means he can be physically and mentally right for playing for Celtic for the next numbers of years.

"It’s obviously a very difficult decision for him as he’s a passionate man about his country. I think for him it’s the right move."

  17. Mourinho on Mkhitaryanpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Manchester United v Southampton (20:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Eyebrows have been raised by Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Henrikh Mkhitaryan so far this season.

A £26.3m summer purchase, the Armenian was excellent in pre-season but has hardly figured now the real stuff has started.

He was introduced for a matter of seconds at the end of the Community Shield win over Leicester.

And he was only involved for the final 15 minutes on the Premier League win at Bournemouth last weekend.

Clearly, sanctioning transfers is no guarantee of selection in Jose Mourinho’s squad.

“Some managers when they buy players, the first thing they think is to protect themselves and their choices,” said Mourinho ahead of tonight’s Old Trafford encounter with Southampton (20:00 BST).

“The players they buy have to play all the time. I am not like this. Before me comes the team, and what I think is the best for the team.

“Mkhitaryan is a super football player and he will be given a lot of opportunities this season.”

Carl Zeiss Jena v Bayern Munich (19:45 BST)

Bayern Munich get their domestic season under way in earnest (we're not counting the German Super Cup are we?) with a first-round fixture against fourth-tier Carl Zeiss Jena in the German Cup tonight.

  19. Fancy a cold one?published at 11:40 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

Not likely to be coming to a Premier League ground near you...

Borussia Dortmund are holding a news conference with chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke, who's been giving a bit of an update on the club's finances.

They've had a record turnover of £324m. Wonder how much they rake in on the sausages?

  20. Berahino set for Baggies stay?published at 11:32 British Summer Time 19 August 2016

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

West Brom's England U21 striker Saido Berahino could remain at the club for the rest of the season.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis says the 23-year-old will only leave if there is an "unbelievable offer" and Berahino is wary of going with the season started.

Stoke and Crystal Palace made bids for Berahino, whose contract expires next summer and who has turned down an extension to the deal.

"Nobody is more keen for Saido to stay than me," said Pulis.
