Stokes inspires England winpublished at 08:20 British Summer Time 24 October 2016

    Cricket

Away from the football and it was good news for England's cricketers this morning as they secured a 22-run win over Bangladesh in Chittagong.

Ben Stokes nabbed the two final wickets, backing up the 85 he made with the bat, to secure England's victory.

It's the first time in Bangladesh that all 40 wickets have fallen in the game.

A good quiz question for you: Who was the last player other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Ballon d'Or?

The answer: AC Milan playmaker Kaka, who took the honour in 2007.

Bale & Ronaldo on Ballon d'Or shortlistpublished at 08:01 British Summer Time 24 October 2016

The 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or is being announced today - every two hours.

What teases they are at France Football (Fifa ended its association with the award last month).

The magazine is revealing the shortlist in bunches of five players - by alphabetical order - throughout the day with the first five named at 07:00 BST.

Wales forward Gareth Bale and Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo were amongst that first group.

Frankly we're appalled they have listed Ronaldo by his first name rather than his surname.

Anyway Bale and Ronaldo were named alongside Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won the award last year for a fifth time.
