    Liverpool's Lazar Markovic could complete a loan move to Sporting Lisbon before the transfer window closes.

    The 22-year-old Serbian, who joined Liverpool from Benfica for £20m in July 2014, has struggled for opportunities at Anfield and spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce.

    Sporting wanted to sign Markovic on a permanent deal earlier this summer but he had no desire to return to Portugal - but he has now had a change of heart and a loan move is on the cards as he accepts his future is away from Anfield.

    I'm told Leicester's deal for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani is very close. He passed his medical out in Italy and now we just await the official confirmation.

    Meanwhile, rumours Sporting's captain Adrien Silva will follow him to the King Power Stadium don't appear to be true. I gather it's very unlikely we'll see that deal tonight.

    The deal is, as far as we know, subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.

    But David Luiz looks confident that there won't be any last-minute hitches in his switch back to Chelsea from Paris St-Germain.

    The defender has freshening up his social media images, external and surely burned his bridges back to the French capital.

    Goal.com, external claim that Daniel Sturridge's representatives approached Arsenal in the hope of getting the Gunners to make a loan bid for their man.

    Liverpool apparently have no interest in allowing the 26-year-old striker to leave the club though so it is a non-starter.

    BBC Sport's Saj Chowdhury: West Ham are set to sign former Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa.

    The 33-year-old, who was a member of Spain's 2010 World Cup-winning squad, is a free agent having been released by Real in the summer.

    The two-time Champions League winner also played at Liverpool for two years between 2007 and 2009.
