    Southampton's record signing Sofiane Boufal and Steven Davis are both available for Wednesday's EFL Cup tie against Arsenal.

    Boufal missed Southmapton's Premier League win over Everton on Sunday with a knock while Davis was ill. 

    Midfielder Dusan Tadic (broken nose) and defender Matt Targett (hamstring) are both still unavailable however.

    Richard Cumiskey: Sarah Storey has to win #SPOTY, external. What she achieved in the paralympics was incredible, and a true inspiration to disabled people out there.

    Jack Grummitt-Carel: I love Murray, but for 14 Paralympic golds, 27-times world champ & broken 72 world recs over 2 sports, Sarah Storey has my vote.

    Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks but his manager Claude Puel insists it is "just speculation".

    "Van Dijk is a great player and has a contract," Puel added. "It is important all of the good players stay with us and continue their work and improve with Southampton.

    "He has the ability to become one of the five or six best defenders in the world. 

    "He has the capacity, it is difficult to see something better on him. 

    "It is important he continues with stability, Southampton is a good club for him."

    Britain's most decorated female Paralympian after three golds in Rio took her tally to 14 titles in all from swimming and cycling.

    She completed a cycling hat-trick at the 2016 Games in the women's C4-5 road race, after winning both the individual pursuit and time trial.

    The Cheshire cyclist, who returned to elite sport after becoming a mother three years ago, also won a gold and two silvers at the Para-cycling Track World Championships.

    Sports Personality record: 12th, 2012. The last woman to win the award was Zara Phillips in 2006, after her triumph at the World Equestrian Games.

    "Every time we can rotate the team and keep the same philosophy," he said.

    "Arsenal are the same. It will be a good game of football."

    Southampton travel to north London on Wednesday to face Arsenal in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and manager Claude Puel has emphasised the importance of the match.

    "It's an opportunity to try to win something," he said. "All my squad is ambitious.

    "The last game against Everton was a fantastic game, with good intensity and a good physical level."

    Southampton impressed on Sunday in their last Premier League game, beating Everton 1-0.

    Show jumper Skelton finally claimed an individual Olympic title at his seventh Games - aged 58, he was Britain's second oldest Olympic gold medallist.

    Having initially retired 16 years ago after breaking his neck in two places, the Warwickshire rider won on Big Star following a six-way jump-off.

    Joshua Millner, who secured shooting gold in 1908 at the age of 61, is the only person older than Skelton to have won gold for GB.

    Sports Personality record: First nomination. A show jumper has triumphed before - David Broome in 1960.

    The incredible rise of Brazilian football team Chapecoense met with tragedy today, after a plane crash in Colombia killed the majority of their team.

    The club were in the Brazilian fourth tier in 2009, but had recently made themselves a "national force" before their run in South American football's secondary continental competition - the equivalent of the Europa League.

    Reports suggest just two players survived the crash in Medellin, which was taking the team to compete in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final on Wednesday.

    Richardson-Walsh Great Britain's women to a historic first Olympic gold medal - winning in a penalty shootout against the Netherlands.

    Chosen as GB flagbearer for the closing ceremony, the Mancunian played alongside wife Helen as they became the first same-sex married couple to win Olympic gold in the same final.

    After Rio, she retired from international duty after a record 375 appearances, 49 goals and 13 years as England and GB skipper.

    Sports Personality record: No hockey player has ever taken the main award, although Britain's men won team of the year in 1988 after clinching Olympic gold.

    Earlier we told that League One MK Dons are expected to speak to Hearts manager Robbie Neilson about their vacant manager's position today.

    But, according to the Daily Mirror, external, Championship side Rotherham have made a late bid for the Scot's services.

    The paper says Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart wants to speak to Neilson before he decides his future and would like to put him on his shortlist to replace Kenny Jackett, who quit on Monday.

    Things get worse for Crystal Palace. The club are currently hovering just above the relegation zone and will now have to try and claw their way out of trouble without striker Connor Wickham. The big striker has had a scan on the injury he suffered in the defeat at Swansea (you know, the crazy 5-4 one) and a scan has revealed he has damaged his Anterior Cruciate Ligament. That's bad.
