'Chinese football is a joke' - BBC commentatorpublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    BBC Radio 5 live

Oscar’s proposed move from Chelsea to the Chinese Super League has been labelled ‘a joke’ by BBC Radio 5 live commentator Alan Green.

The Brazil midfielder Oscar says he is "90% certain" to move to Shanghai SIPG in January. The fee for the 25-year-old would be about £60m.

“It’s an absolute joke, Chinese football is a joke," said Green

“Oscar at 25 has said goodbye to the Chelsea players. He’s going to take a fortune from China, how is that going to further his career?

    “Utterly ridiculous."

Former England defender Danny Mills had an opposing view point.

“If someone is going to offer you triple your pay, you’d be gone tomorrow.

“We all work in life to retire.

“You have to admire the likes of Hulk and Oscar who have maybe come from very poor families, and they’re thinking we can make as much money as possible in a very short space of time and secure our families' future for life."

British Cycling 'not aware' of package contentspublished at 12:32 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    Cycling

Members of British Cycling's senior management are "not aware" of doping products being contained in a package delivered to Team Sky in 2011, says president Bob Howden.

Howden said he was under instruction from UK Anti-doping not to comment to the Culture, Media and Sport select committee about the package.

British Cycling's women's team coach Simon Cope delivered the package on the final day of the Criterium du Dauphine, a seven-stage race held in France which was won by Bradley Wiggins five years ago.

"I don't know what was in the package," Howden told the panel of MPs on Monday.

"I'm not aware of anyone in the senior management team who would know. We are not aware of any doping products that would be in there."

British Cycling board director Dr George Gilbert added: "British Cycling sends packages out on a regular basis, packages from pedals to spare shoes - this package might be different.

"We have not looked into this because we have been instructed not to by Ukad."
