  1. Karun Nair makes 250published at 10:34 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

India continue to rack up the runs on day four of the final Test in Chennai. Karun Nair has become only the fourth Indian batsman (Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman the others) to make 250 as India reach 701-6

There are 14 overs left in the day, and no sign of a declaration from India captain Virat Kohli just yet despite a lead of 224 runs. Surely Kohli will want a cheeky few overs at England's openers before the close?

Robin Armstrong: In an otherwise ghastly 2016, Andy has been elevated into the GBSOAT conversation. No better role model out there.

Daniel P Hockings: Djokovic won three majors this year. Murray wasn't even the best player in his sport. Greatness is not being the second best player in your sport. The term gets thrown around far too often. There are two or three top tennis players in the world yet there are 50 top golfers. Danny Willet sports personality.

Steve Howes: It should be sportsperson of the year not personality as so many winners don't have personality.

'I would have voted for Brownlee'published at 08:28 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    BBC Radio 5 live

BBC Sports Personality of the Year Andy Murray says he would have voted for triathlete Alistair Brownlee, who finished second.

Brownlee, who won Olympic gold, helped his exhausted brother over the line in September's Triathlon World Series in Mexico.

“It would have been Alistair because what he did earlier in the year, I just think it’s a really important message," said Murray.

“As well, what they do in their career is obviously a extremely tough, physical, hard sport.

“But then at the end of something like that, that it isn’t just about the winning all of the time.

“I think sometimes that gets lost a little bit in sport and I think that was a really, really  important message so it was really cool to see.

“I have a brother who competes obviously at the highest level as well so it was really nice to see that.”

  19. England toil in Chennaipublished at 08:17 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

First things first. If you were hoping to wake up to some good news from day four in Chennai then we're sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. India finished day three of the final Test on 391/4 and they have pushed on to 572-5 today as England's bowlers toil.

Murali Vijay was trapped lbw by Liam Dawson in the morning session but that's the only success England have had as India pile on the runs. Led by Karun Nair, who is currently 187 not out, India are 95 runs ahead.
