Tom Perry: When I was 16 I did my referee qualifications. I only officiated a handful of youth games before packing it in - the abuse from the parents (and the kids) didn't justify the £30 weekly pocket money! I'm 28 now and still playing, but suffice to say I try my hardest not to give the ref a hard time!

Jamie: Why are we only hearing negatives about referees and players? I've been a ref for nine years and have never suffered physical abuse or intimidation. Let's not tar all players with the same brush, most are decent guys and girls who respect officials and the laws of the game.

'Burnley trying to fight off West Ham for Snodgrass'published at 11:37 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2017

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Burnley's offer of £10m for Hull City's Robert Snodgrass has been accepted.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche has been a keen admirer of the 29-year-old and is trying to fight off interest from West Ham United to sign the Scotland midfielder.

Hull have previously refused offers of up to £6m from the Hammers for Snodgrass, who missed Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Chelsea with what manager Marco Silva described as "a small injury in the knee".

Snodgrass has been linked with a move away from the KC Stadium since December before Hull triggered a one-year contract extension, tying him to the club until the end of the 2017-18 season.

Have you played in/ watched a grassroots level game where the officials were brilliant? We want to hear the positive stories too!

T-Howe: Saw a ref award a last minute penalty, caused a team not to get promoted, he then got locked in the changing room.

James Eadon: I reffed for 10 years. The level of abuse was proportionate to how good/bad I reffed. I was never intimidated or threatened.

chipperhull: I'm an under 7 grassroots coach and I ALWAYS thank the ref after every game. Most are only young kids and need encouragement.

Even thinking about retirement before the age of 30 is enough to get most people panicking about pensions, but not Carl Frampton.
