'One of the biggest games in world rugby'published at 10:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Rugby union

Let's get some thoughts from England coach Eddie Jones on facing Wales - who opened their campaign with a 33-7 win in Italy last week.

"It’s been a great week of focused preparation and we can’t wait to play Wales," the Australian enthused.

"Playing Wales in Cardiff is one of the biggest games in world rugby and we’re excited. These are the games you want to be part of as a player and a coach.

"It’s a game that is going to be decided on the basics of the game. You do the fundamentals of the game well and you win the game of rugby. We have a young team eager to play well at the great Principality Stadium."

We have to be united or we have no chance - Wengerpublished at 10:02 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

Arsenal v Hull City (Saturday, 12:30 GMT)

Some Arsenal fans are unhappy with manager Arsene Wenger after the club lost twice in a week - at home to Watford last Tuesday and then at Chelsea on Saturday.

But the Gunners boss has called for the supporters to be united behind the team. He said: "Our fans have been consistent and have a high level of expectation as I do but I don't feel you can be a fan until last Tuesday and then not be behind the team any more - it doesn't make sense.

"All the other clubs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, they have big expectations and big history. We are in a fight and we have to be united or we have no chance.

"You have Tottenham as well and everyone is behind their team and we have to do the same. Even if we have had two disappointed results I want the fans to be behind the team. Focus on what we do well. They were great players last Tuesday and they are still great players."

Reaction: Heather Watsonpublished at 10:01 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

Fed Cup: Watson 6-3 6-0 Marcinkevica

"I thought I played better than yesterday and I had a better opponent. I moved better and struck the ball more cleanly.

"Ostapenko is young and a dangerous player. She's shot up the rankings quickly and she's only 19 years old.

"But Jo is playing great and we will all be on the side cheering her on.

"Last night we played heads up as a team, we are playing a lot of games and I'm enjoying it."

High spirits then in the GB camp!  But can anyone explain what heads up is?

Arsenal still in title race - Wengerpublished at 09:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

Arsenal v Hull City (Saturday, 12:30 GMT)

Some quotes from Arsene Wenger and he is asked whether his Arsenal side, fourth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Chelsea, can still win the Premier League title this season.

"It is never over. Even if you (the media) think it is, I don't - we can't think like that," says Wenger.

"We're in a pack that is very tight and the fight for every position will be massive, maybe more this season than before.

"If it is over for us, it is over for everyone else as we are all in the pack. Chelsea have an advantage, they do not play in Europe, they play for nothing, they do not play midweek games and are in a strong position."

English teams out of Uefa Youth League eventpublished at 09:34 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Football

England will be without a representative in the last 16 of the prestigious Uefa Youth League after Manchester City were beaten on penalties in their play-off with Salzburg last night.

City drew 1-1 in Austria but star man Brahim Diaz missed as the Blues slipped to a 4-3 shoot-out defeat.

The Premier League had never previously failed to get at least one club through to the last eight in the three years the Under-19 competition – for clubs who reach the Champions League group stage – has been in existence.

Chelsea, not eligible this season, have won the tournament in the last two seasons.

Spain still have four teams left in the competition.

Former Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane is one of the voices you can hear from in the latest 5 live podcast. He was in the commentary box last night for Leicester's win over Derby and said: "We were looking where the spark was going to come from. Demarai Gray provided it for the opener and then [Wilfred] Ndidi and Gray scored those great goals.

"Can Gray get more game time? Can he play more central?"

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has no explanation for why his side are lower in the table this season - sixth - than they were under former manager Louis van Gaal - fourth and fifth - yet seem to be playing better.

"We didn’t finish higher last season because we didn’t deserve to," said the former Athletic Bilbao player.

"Now we look stronger. People can see that. We have more points than last season and two seasons ago. The opponents are also better than the last two seasons.

"Sometimes in football there is no explanation. When we have finished in the league we will talk again."

    How would you reform football?

The Football Association could be facing reform today as it has to answer questions in Parliament. So we are asking how would you reform football? Remember, it can be serious or it can be trivial.

John McEnerney: A TMO (television match official) for certain things (goals, penalties), diving costs the player a week's wage and all corners must make it beyond the front post!

Jamie Savin: Get rid of League Cup, scrap cup replays, winter break, 3g pitches and kids playing futsal.

Mephit: Sin bin + real time live video ref = sorted.

You've got our vote John. Ban the rubbish corner!

    Football

Leicester stalwart Andy Gray opened the scoring in the 3-1 extra-time FA Cup victory over Derby last night and says the win can revive the club's season after 13 league defeats that have left them only two points off the bottom of the table.

"It's been a tough few weeks and we've been getting a lot of criticism," King said. "We have 14 massive games left in the league but now we are through in a couple of rounds of the cup. Why can't we create another journey this season?"

It can be serious, it can be trivial, the floor is yours.
