Ronaldo gives Real the advantagepublished at 08:51 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

Cristiano Ronaldo ended a seven-month Champions League goal drought as holders Real Madrid came from behind to beat 10-man Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarter-final in Munich.

Ronaldo, the Champions League's record goalscorer, scored twice in the second half to end an 11-hour wait for a goal and put the 11-times winners in charge.

Arturo Vidal had headed Bayern ahead but then wasted a chance to double their lead when he blasted a penalty over the crossbar.

And Ronaldo then twice clinically converted from crosses either side of Javi Martinez's red card to move to 97 Champions League goals.

Ref "guessed" - Shakespearepublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

Leicester hard done by - Shakespeare

Only one talking point after the game and Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare said the referee had "guessed" over the penalty decision.

"It is a really disappointing decision by the referee," said Shakespeare.

"It's a key moment in the game. He has to get that one right, he can't guess on those things. It's a definite free-kick but it's out of the box.

He added: It was plain and obvious to see. It has ruined our gameplan,"

"It is a decision that is tough to take when it is so clear and obvious. We should have had something from this but we have to accept it."

Leicester keep Atletico in reachpublished at 08:32 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

This was Marc Albrighton's foul on Antoine Griezmann that led to the contentious penalty last night.

Replays showed contact was made outside the box but Griezmann duly stepped up to send Kasper Schmeichel the wrong way.

Leicester managed to restrict a dominant Atletico to just a single goal going into the second leg and the biggest night in the club's history.

But they may have to play that match without the suspended Robert Huth and the injured Wes Morgan.

The big story today is Leicester's 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg.

The talking point from the game was a first-half penalty awarded to Atletico, despite replays showing France striker Antoine Griezmann was outside the box when he was fouled by Marc Albrighton.

The Sun also report that Arsenal are in talks with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri.
