As expected, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn when asked about the two bids the club have made for the West Brom captain Jonny Evans. Guardiola said he did not want to talk about another club's player despite West Brom boss Tony Pulis confirming the Baggies had turned down two bids for the Northern Irishman.

In terms of any other incoming transfer, Guardiola was similarly guarded. The only confirmation he would give was that the club would "try to do the best squad for the long season."

Guardiola confirmed the Blues have no new injury concerns ahead of the game against Everton on Monday, only that Benjamin Mendy, Fabian Delph and Ilkay Gundogan were all still on the comeback trail.

"Pedro has trained with us today, he had pain in his ankle. I don’t know if he is available on the bench.

"Alvaro Morata is another player to continue to work to. We have to find the right solution, I have to face a difficult situation."
