Mr Ineffable: Everton didn’t replace Lukaku and have Thursday night football to deal! Sacking Koeman as if they expected to win the league!

Zezti: He just couldn't get the players acting like a team so had to happen. Would like Tuchel or similar next for Everton.
Speaking on Sunday before Ronald Koeman was sacked, Match of the Day 2 pundits Ian Wright and Martin Keown pick the Everton team they believe the Dutchman should have been selecting to end the club's poor run of form.

Rob: Spare a thought for the poor people readying Football Manager for release, having to go in and make those last minute changes

When Ronald Koeman took the acclaim from Goodison Park at the end of his first season as Everton manager, he could reflect with satisfaction on a job well done.
That promising day in the spring seemed an age away on Sunday as Koeman's Everton trooped off the pitch at a largely deserted Goodison Park, with the derision of the fans ringing in his and his players' ears after a 5-2 thrashing by Arsenal that left them in the relegation zone.
This was not what he or Moshiri planned after more than £140m worth of summer outlay - and Koeman was sacked only nine league games into the season on Monday.

Malcolm Bradbrook: Sacking of Koeman seemed inevitable from the day he announced that Lukaku should go to a bigger club

Hymix Big Beard: It's sad, but with a win percentage like his and no signs of improvement or tactical awareness, of course it had to happen.
AtourTB: How can anyone say Koeman's sacking is unjustified? Their results this season have been terrible. Not just losing. Losing BADLY
And here's Koeman's tweet from last night. There's one or two choice replies in there...
I'll miss him simply tweeting 'Matchday' whenever Everton play. It's the little things in life.

Alex Ray: Anyone questioning RK sack have obviously not watched #efc so far. Walsh also accountable for lack of fundamental signings.
This is what Ronald Koeman had to say yesterday after he was asked about Everton's struggles, and his own position.
He said: "The team is underperforming, it is in a difficult situation mentally and struggling for confidence. That is what we need to change.
"I told the players that I believe in the players, I believe in the commitment of the players.
"I still believe I can change the whole situation, but everybody knows how it works in football. That is all I answer about this situation.
"The final result is really poor, but all these kind of decisions (about the future) are not in my hands.''

Nikul: The only man who can take Everton forward now is Gordon Strachan. Bring him in immediately.
Paul Corrigan: We need a marquee manager. Dyche, Unsworth, Moyes, Allardyce would all be a massive show of mediocrity.
For the past few days, there's been mention of David Moyes returning to Goodison Park.
Here's Match of the Day 2 Extra pundit Leon Osman on that very possibility.
Things move quickly - The Telegraph are already reporting, external that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is a potential target to replace Ronald Koeman.
Dyche has also been linked with the vacant manager's job at Leicester City. He's a popular bloke...
The paper also reports that there's "an expectation" former player David Unsworth will move up from his role as the club’s Under-23 manager to take over in the short term.

John Wilson: Never right to sack a manager but it was like the Mike Walker days. Ancelotti hopefully now or Unsworth/Ferguson short term
£45m on Gylfi Sigurdsson, up to £30m on Burnley's Michael Keane, £30m on keeper Jordan Pickford and £23.6m on Davy Klaassen. Oh, and Wayne Rooney.
Altogether, they spent £140m in the summer. Hmm.
Although, looking at those numbers from another angle...
