Cass Fawcett: Koeman should be off. He is losing against teams such as Atalanta and drawing with Apollon Limassol. He spent £100 million smh.

John McEnerney: With most big clubs it’s who’s going to takeover next, the quality isn’t available, maybe Carlo A to come in but RK’s time is up

Kswin: Koeman has to go. Square pegs round holes. If we’re serious about wanting success, we need to be astute

Niall Hughes: Koeman can’t turn it around. We can blame the lack of striker but his refusal to play wingers is pure ego & stubbornness #out

'Koeman paying for cold approach & transfer failures'published at 09:50 British Summer Time 23 October 2017

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

When Koeman made his excellent first impression last season, his cold, calculating detachment was hailed as exactly what was needed after the freewheeling, happy-clappy reign of his predecessor Roberto Martinez.

Koeman did not sing the company song and did not claim a long-lasting affection for Everton. He was the tough love that would bring the club and its squad back into line.

Everton's fans accepted Koeman was a football manager who, at this time in particular, just happened to be Everton's manager. He was not part of the club's fabric and never pretended to be.

Koeman didn't really hide the fact his true love was Barcelona, where he remains a legend, and that his dream journey would take him back to the Nou Camp as coach.

Not a problem - until you start losing football matches.

What about Bilic?published at 09:37 British Summer Time 23 October 2017

Everton's performance yesterday has given Slaven Bilic a break from dominating the back pages.

The Hammers were in the relegation zone following Friday's 3-0 loss to Brighton, and they're currently 16th.

However, Bilic will be given more time by the club's owners, and will be in charge for at least the next two games.

More on that story over here.

Consider this alarming statistic for Everton and Koeman.

Four of the five defenders who started for the Toffees on Sunday failed to win a single tackle.

As a world-class defender in his own playing days, surely Koeman must be doing something about such fundamental weaknesses?!

    Everton flounder as rumours persist

But as Jurgen Klopp joins Mourinho in the Furrowed Brow Brigade for now, it's safe to assume Ronald Koeman is beyond even that.

The Everton manager has cut an increasingly forlorn figure as his team continue to concede goals and lose games, and speculation over his job is reaching fever-pitch.

We will discuss this in further detail throughout the morning but this piece of analysis from Phil McNulty is a useful way of understanding how Everton have got to here.
