'Kane is almost retiring defenders'published at 08:57 British Summer Time 23 October 2017

It obviously helped Spurs that Harry Kane is in such irresistible form right now - and that Dejan Lovren did so badly at dealing with him on Sunday.

I could not get my head round the way Lovren approached the game, because Kane has been so prolific recently.

It shows how Kane is almost retiring defenders now. Lovren was hauled off and sitting on the bench soon after that, because he was not able to live with him.

Kane is the main man for club and country at the moment but what I like is that he does not seem to be playing with any pressure on his shoulders. In fact, he seems to thrive on the expectation that he will score.

Tottenham fans will be buzzing after their side's demolition of Liverpool and they can have a few stats to help brighten their victory glow:

    • Tottenham scored more goals with just 14 shots in this game (4), than they had in their four previous Premier League games at Wembley (three goals from 90 shots).
    • Harry Kane’s opener was his first Premier League goal at Wembley Stadium, with his 29th shot at the ground.
    • In the last eight games in which he’s scored for Tottenham in all competitions, Harry Kane has scored at least twice.
    • Son Heung-Min scored his 19th Premier League goal – the joint-most of any Asian player in the competition (level with Park Ji-sung).

The fall-out from Liverpool's 4-1 defeat by Tottenham does not make happy reading for their fans and here are a few stats which will probably only make them feel worse.

    • Tottenham earned their first win in 10 Premier League games against Liverpool, after a run of three draws and six defeats against the Reds.
    • Tottenham’s second goal was the 1000th that Liverpool have conceded in the Premier League (now 1002), making them the sixth team to have reached this milestone (Tottenham 1237, Everton 1225, Aston Villa 1186, West Ham 1163 and Newcastle 1148).
    • Liverpool’s tally of 16 goals conceded is their highest after nine top-flight games since the 1964-65 campaign (20).
    • This was only the third time Liverpool had conceded four goals in the opening hour of a Premier League game – Stoke in May 2015 and Southampton in February 1994.
    • Since his debut for Liverpool in August 2013, Simon Mignolet has made more errors leading to a goal than any other player in the Premier League (13).

There is one - yes one - positive.

    • Only Robbie Fowler (six) scored more goals than Mohamed Salah (five) in their first nine Premier League appearances for Liverpool.

It wasn't a satisfying weekend for all Manchester football fans though.

Jose Mourinho's United produced the biggest surprise of the weekend by losing 2-1 to Huddersfield Town.

Massive credit to the Premier League newcomers, but Phil Neville reckons this setback for United had been coming.

Manchester City are in title-winning form, even by this stage of the season.

But what of this man? Sergio Aguero.

Perhaps eclipsed by Harry Kane in the goalscoring stakes so far, but still invaluable to his side.

Aguero has scored his 177th and club record-equalling goal for Manchester City, but what makes the striker even more surprising than you might think?

    This video explains more.
