    "If I'm being honest, I would have liked to swim slightly faster than that.

    Unbelievably impressive from the Ukrainian. Romanchuk takes gold in comfortable fashion while Norway's Henrik Christiansen picks up another silver medal, to match his achievements in 2016.

    Reacting to her bronze medal, Hannah Miley tells the BBC: "It was really hot in the pool, very hot for Glasgow!

    "It's a great atmosphere to be part of as well. There's a new generation and wave coming through. It's great that she [Lesaffre] it's someone to target for Tokyo.

    "To come away with a medal is really, really nice."

    It was all about the breaststroke for Hannah Miley. She pulled back into contention in that third 100m but Aimee Willmott couldn't keep up with the pace.

    No gold medal for the Brits but Hannah Miley fought hard to get a place on the podium. It was a stunning swim from France's Fantine Lesaffre.

    18-year-old Italian Ilaria Cusinato takes the silver and Britain's Hannah Miley bronze.

    Aimee Willmott has to settle for fourth.

    Hannah Miley speaking to BBC after finishing third in her heat: "Once I went onto the freestyle I knew I just needed to do enough to get to the final.

    "It is all to play for tonight. I do try and do my research on each of the athletes I am up against. We are getting another wave coming through now which keeps people fresh and competitive.

    "The whole feeling brings back the Commonwealth Games so I'm glad to have a home crowd. Me and Aimee [Willmott] are in the final now so it could be really exciting."
