    She'll go into the final with the second fastest time. She's puffing now, but job done.

    Unfortunately, she won't be joined by Emily Large in tomorrow's final though - she just misses out.

    Hentke wins this semi-final in 2:07.55 - but only just. Hungary's Boglarka Kapas has a great final 50m to finish strongly in second.

    Emily Large places fifth in a time of 2:11.25. We'll have to wait and see if that is enough to make it into the final.

    Emily Large made a good start and was third after the first 50m.

    Franziska Hentke of Germany has opened up a comfortable lead at halfway, and Large is fifth at 100m.

    Alys Thomas has sat top of the world rankings for this event since winning Commonwealth Games gold in April, and she showed exactly why in the heats this morning to qualify fastest for the semis.

    She takes lane four in the second semi-final, but before then, fellow Briton Emily Large is in action in the first. Let’s see how they get on.

    Brodie Williams finishes sixth and Luke Greenbank is eighth. Unfortunately, that's not enough for either of them to progress to the final.

    We’re having a little bit of a break from the finals now to crack through a handful of semi-finals.

    First up is those of the men’s 100m backstroke and British interest comes in the form of Luke Greenbank and Brodie Williams, with Williams putting in an impressive performance earlier today to win his heat.

    They are both in the second semi-final, alongside fastest qualifier Evgeny Rylov of Russia.

    Time for Siobhan-Marie O’Connor to have a tilt at a European title. She’s a medley specialist – winning Olympic silver in Rio - but won her semi-final yesterday to secure a middle lane here.

    But she faces stiff competition for the gold from Russian world leader Yulia Efimova, who broke the championship record in her semi-final, as well as Italy’s Arianna Castiglioni.

    Onto the next final and this one features Britain’s Duncan Scott, who will be hoping to put on a show for his hometown crowd.

    He won Commonwealth gold in this event back in April (one of his entire haul of six medals!) but was only fifth fastest in yesterday’s semi-finals. Italian Alessandro Miressi was fastest while France’s world bronze medallist Mehdy Metella is also a threat.

    The bell goes and there is just 0.3 of a second between them.

    However, Romanchuk is now second and eating into that lead. Olympic champion Paltrinieri has dropped way back.
