    Swimming: Women's 100m freestyle semi-finals

Great Britain's Freya Anderson has made it into the final in the women's 100m freestyle event. Only the top two in each semi-final were guaranteed to qualify and Anderson was third in her race, but the time was good enough to take her into the final.

Fellow Briton Anna Hopkin came eighth in her semi-final, so that's the end of the story for her.

"It would have been nice to have done the 100m as a warm-up event but 200m is my thing so I am happy."

Over in Berlin, it is the sort of summer evening made for beery barbeques and talking nonsense til sunset and beyond.

There is something a lot more sensible and healthy going on at the Berlin's OlympiaStadion.

The first evening session of the athletics programme is just getting underway.

Fantastic finish from Molly Renshaw - she just held on at the end to get the bronze.

Renshaw was with Yuliya Efimova into the last turn but then just tired in the last 50m.

Chloe Tutton has been disqualified, although we are not too sure why.

    Swimming: Men's 50m breaststroke semi-finals

British world record holder Adam Peaty speaking to BBC: "I was going out there and wanting to go a bit smoother. I glided in at the finish but tomorrow hopefully I will land on it perfectly.

"I have probably added an extra three or four kgs since the Commonwealth Games. I had a problem with my tendon in my bicep so I couldn't lift. I am swimming and enjoying it now."

Britain's Ross Murdoch speaking to BBC: "This was a bonus event for me. It was good to make it out of the heats and get out there and enjoy the crowd one more time."

That was a stunning swim from Adam Peaty. The power he had with 30m to go was special. He hold the water so well, and with his repetition he has, it's unreal.

The noise when Adam Peaty walked into this arena was ridiculous. It really does feel like he’s a superstar of this sport. We are talking actual Usain Bolt levels of superstardom here.

But the decibels reached new levels when the result showed he had touched the wall first.

    Sport needs superstars like this.

Peaty qualifies for finalpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    Swimming: Men's 50m breaststroke semi-finals

Flawless from Adam Peaty who storms clear to win his semi-final in a time of 26.23, a new championship record of 26.23, also the fastest time in this distance this year.

He is 0.57 seconds clear of his nearest qualifier. Bad news for Ross Murdoch though. A sixth-placed finish in his semi-final is not enough and he misses out.

For Peaty though, it looks like his gold medal to lose.

We can all say we learnt more from the tough times in our careers than the good times.

Adam Peaty will have learnt a lot from that defeat at the Commonwealths and he looks like he's back to his best now so even though it's not the final yet, he'll still be looking to win his race.
