It's been a cracking night. Dina Asher-Smith really ran her way into the world-class category tonight. Before the competition started I asked her would she prefer fast times or medals, and she said fast times. Today, she got both the fast time and medal.
It's been so hot here, and we saw that affecting a lot of athletes, especially in the 10,000m but even the sprinters felt it, too.
I love the way Dina and Zharnel Hughes go about their business, and I have a lot of time for Reece Prescod, too.
When you have other athletes right up there performing at the top of their game with you, it helps bring you on, and that can only be good for British sprinting.

Dina Asher-Smith's performance bodes so well for her - and to be honest I'm just proud to be part of the team commentating on a history-making night.
When you think of Dina, you think of her wonderful smile, but beneath that there is a real steel. She's had a lot of close calls in her career and she's always been gracious in defeat, congratulating the other girls, but you know underneath it all, she's thinking: 'I'm going to get you'.
No woman in the world has run faster than her this season, yet, but I don't think they will. And that bodes so well for the World Championships next year and Tokyo in 2020.
Zharnel Hughes only won by a tenth but he won it, and Britain got a one-two, which is unheard of in sprinting. It was especially impressive because the pace of the whole race was so phenomenal.

It's a new era for British sprinting and it's great to see. This was an opportunity for them to come in and perform as best as they could, and they should be proud.
Dina Asher-Smith has ran a season-best, Reece Prescod running a personal best and Zharnel Hughes breaking the championship record.
It's very impressive and it bodes well for the future.

Could there be more neckwear on the way for Great Britain tomorrow as the decathlon reaches it's conclusion?
After a mammoth 2.17m high jump personal best, Great Britain's Tim Duckworth holds a 95-point lead over second-placed Germany's Arthur Abele at the halfway point.
French world champion Kevin Mayer has pulled out after failing to register a long jump effort.
Abele sounds like a mean competitor though.
"Generally I am a hunter," he said after the 400m.
"(To the audience) If you continue tomorrow like you did today, then we will set it really off tomorrow, for sure! All hell will be let loose! Everything will happen here."
Crikey.

Dina Asher-Smith's biggest fan was in the Olympic Stadium to see her daughter reel in gold tonight.
Julie Asher-Smith wrote this sensational letter to Dina on the BBC Sport website before Rio 2016.
It also included this superb photo of Dina aged 11. Fierce.

Reece Prescod has a horrible start and there's no reason for him to have that, because he's not a 6ft5in Usain Bolt.
So he should be excited about that - if he can get a better start he will be so, so fast.
I hope he doesn't have a defensive attitude about it, because he needs to get it right.
Men's shot put
Just a little bit of field business that may have got away from us while the sprinters were strutting their stuff on the track.
And while Britannia may rule the home straight, Poland is dominating in the throws.
Michal Haratyk - who came into the final with seven of the top eight throws this year by Europeans - backs up his form with shot put gold.
His compatriot Konrad Bukowiecki was second,

It's tough to live up to the pressure. You can either use it to motivate you or wilt under it - these guys have used it 100%.

It's about getting the right balance. Do I believe the hype? Can I transfer the focus when it really matters and let my performance speak for itself? We know our athletes can do that now.
Zharnel Hughes and Dina Asher-Smith have stayed healthy and I think it is a combination of things. You have to prove that time and time again.

These sorts of championships are good for confidence boosters for athletes, because I don't know if Dina Asher-Smith runs that time if she's not up against the best like she was today. She ran that time, not because she needed to, but because she could and because he believed she could.
Now that she knows she has that time in her, she's only going to get better.
By the way, Imani-Lara Lansiquot finished a very creditable sixth in 11.14 on her first senior championships appearance. She is just 20.

Britain's CJ Ujah speaking to BBC after finishing fourth in the 100m final: "It hasn't been an easy year for me. I have been training hard and I came out with a season's best.
"I tried but I guess it wasn't my day. Credit to the guys out there because they have been performing well all season.
"They have been consistent. I am happy I ran a season's best and I have a few more races so from here it is only up. I have a bright future."
