Patrick Mahomes may be on the losing side tonight, but it's not for the lack of effort - what a throw!

    Ouch!published at 02:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

That was such a tough hit on Mahomes, he was crunched by three defenders in three different directions. That's the easiest roughing the passer penalty the refs have had to call. 15 yards for the Chiefs and a sore everything for Mahomes tomorrow morning.

  3. Sackpublished at 02:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mahomes down again as he couldn't find a throw from a collapsing pocket. "He just has to eat it" as Tony Romo puts it so nicely.

  4. Bucs puntpublished at 02:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

For once the Bucs can't get a first down, but they won't be too concerned about punting it away and forcing the Chiefs to go the length of the field to score, especially not the way they've played tonight.

As we start to look atte MVP voting, Brady will no doubt get it but this victory has been built on the Tampa Bay defence.

  5. Run, run, runpublished at 02:34 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay will look to milk the clock now as much as possible with plenty of runs, and with Jones and Fournette making plenty of yardage why not.

    Jones moves the sticks again.

Patrick Mahomes is giving it maximum effort alright - and to be fair he's had a few balls dropped by his receivers tonight as well as being on the run all night. He's not giving up here and one of the few Chiefs players who can hold their heads up after this.

    Osi Umenyiora
Two-time Super Bowl winner on BBC One

What I've seen from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is domination, on both lines of the scrimmage. It's been an overall fantastic performance by the Bucs team, who not a lot of people gave a chance.

Patrick Mahomes' movement has been off. His toe (injury) has got worse as the game's gone on. You saw his running earlier and we thought 'hey, if they do this, he can beat you with the running game and Patrick Mahomes scrambling'. But he' slowed down for a reason. He throws off-platform a lot but you can see he's not putting a lot of pressure on that toe. It's affecting his throws.

  9. Turnover on downspublished at 02:31 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I can't quite believe what I've just seen there! Mahomes again running for his life, just somehow managed to throw the ball while diving full length and it actually made it into the end zone but Williams couldn't make the catch.

Mahomes was actually horizontal when he let that one go!

  10. Crazy playpublished at 02:28 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mahomes is running all round the backfield with Buccaneers chasing him down, he makes a desperate heave into the end zone but Pringle just can't get hold of it.

The Chiefs will go for this on fourth down to try and stay in the Super Bowl.

  11. End of third quarterpublished at 02:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Even more bad news for Kansas City as Mahomes is limping quite badly now, that toe injury could well be starting to trouble him now. It's called 'turf toe' and it usually hangs around for a while, players can get out on the field with it, but with how long the Super Bowl lasts, with half-time extended, it may well be getting worse.

Tom Brady 15 minutes from ring number seven.

Another penalty on the Chiefs - normal service resumed. That's 100 yards in penalties given away by the Chiefs...

  13. Postpublished at 02:18 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A penalty against the Bucs - that's been a rare sight in this game but it gives the Chiefs a first down after a holding call. Needless to say this is do or die time for Mahomes.

Kansas City Chiefs 9-28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Jason Bell

Patrick Mahomes had to take a shot, but what I didn't like is that Tyreek Hill didn't attack the ball. He waited for it to come to him. At times like that, you need your receiver to be aggressive. If you give him an opportunity to go and catch the ball, it's either him or nothing.

  15. field goal

Field goal - Chiefspublished at 02:14 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Ryan Succop, the former Chiefs kicker, nails the kick from 52 yards to increase the lead to 22 points, that's an awfully long way back for the Chiefs now.

  16. That's ugly!published at 02:13 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A bad snap over Brady's head is about the only thing the Bucs have done wrong all night, it backs them up and they'll have to kick a field goal.

  17. Postpublished at 02:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs are in cruise control now, mixing the run with short passes and looking for the touchdown that would surely put this game to bed.

  18. Postpublished at 02:06 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Jason Bell
Former NFL cornerback for the Houston Texans on BBC One

Jacksonville used Leonard Fournette so predictably and, for so long, with such a bad offensive line that he got tired of running into the middle of the line and getting nowhere. Now with a decent line and an offence that uses him in a more varied way, he can hit those holes quickly enough to get down there in the open.

  19. Turnover - Mahomes intercepted!published at 02:06 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

From bad to worse for the Chiefs, as a hopeful pass from Mahomes to Hill is knocked up in the air and picked off by Antoine Winfield Jr. and the Bucs get the ball back

  20. Sack - Mahomes taken downpublished at 02:05 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Kansas City Chiefs 9-28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Shaq Barrett, who else!? He's been in the face of Mahomes all night and now he's put him down.
