  1. Pat sackedpublished at 02:40 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-14 Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs had just made it into field goal range but a sack for a 10-yard loss on Mahomes has forced them back out of range again and there's only 30 seconds left on the clock.

  2. Great play!published at 02:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-14 Kansas City Chiefs

Demarcus Robinson takes in a 27-yard catch but what a throw that is from Mahomes, and the run, with hardly any wind up it's just a flick of the wrist but it has some heat on it.

  3. touchdown

Touchdown - Chiefspublished at 02:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-14 Kansas City Chiefs

Byron Pringle had two touchdowns when these two met in the regular season and he's got another now here after showing Joe Haden a clean pair of heels in coverage and taking a nice catch over his shoulder.

It's a heavy landing on what looks a pretty nasty playing surface but Pringle holds on to complete the score.

  4. Two-minute warningpublished at 02:28 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-7 Kansas City Chiefs

We take a pause there with the Chiefs driving but staring down a third and seven when we return.

They're on the Pittsburgh 15 so a field goal is almost assured here, but they'll be going for the TD obviously.

  5. Kelce's catch and runpublished at 02:26 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-7 Kansas City Chiefs

    Travis KelceImage source, Getty Images

Travis Kelce wriggles free and shows how dangerous he is in the open field with a 31-yard gain to get KC moving again.

Kelce's speed is a real danger when he catches those passes down the middle as linebackers mostly can't live with him.

  6. Diontae drops anotherpublished at 02:22 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-7 Kansas City Chiefs

Diontae Dropson, sorry Johnson, drops another pass that would've kept the drive moving and earned a first down, but instead it's overworked punter Pressley Harvin who has his sixth kick of the half!

  7. touchdown

After all that, it's as simple as a short underarm pass from Patrick Mahomes to Jerick McKinnon to bring the Chiefs level.

Right down near the end zone is where the Chiefs really pose problems with so much movement from behind the line and so many angles of throws Mahomes can make.

    Game on!

  8. Kelce with a catchpublished at 02:14 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce have finally started to get into the game, with Kelce getting the Chiefs into the red zone.

Both of the Chiefs' star targets have been slowed by injuries and Covid of late and they don't look 100%, but their team needs them right now.

  9. Watch the scoop and scorepublished at 02:11 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Well the Pittsburgh offence hasn't looked capable of scoring so their defence has shown them the way.

Quite apt the way this game has started that it's a defensive score that puts Pittsburgh in front.

  10. touchdown

Touchdown - Steelerspublished at 02:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Wow! TJ Watt comes up with the scoop and score!

The Chiefs try to get tricky with receiver Mecole Hardman taking the snap, then handing it to running back Darrel Williams, who fumbles it not once, but twice!

And as the ball goes loose it's Watt who is there to gather and nobody is going to stop him finding the end zone.

  11. Punt timepublished at 02:03 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Well, we had three minutes or so without a punt so we were due one, and right on schedule Pittsburgh kick it away again, putting the Chiefs back inside their own 20.

It's not pretty, but this is exactly the game the Steelers have to play to try and pinch this one. At some stage though you'd imagine Mahomes makes something happen.

    Doesn't he?

  12. Big Ben strikespublished at 02:00 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Roethlisberger makes a throw! It's Diontae Johnson who takes it in to move the chains and get a first down.

It's hardly a secret that Roethlisberger doesn't have the zip in his arm anymore, but even without that juice on the ball he can still move it with these short passes.

  13. End of the firstpublished at 01:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Fittingly the quarter ends with a punt and that's about as good a defensive performance as you'll see against this Chiefs side.

Unlike underdogs such as the Patriots and Eagles, the Steelers are doing everything right to stay in the game - they've limited Mahomes and got the one turnover.

    Tough game so far.

  14. A drive!published at 01:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs get over midfield as they finally get something going.

At this time in their last meeting this season the Chiefs were already 14-0 up after two first quarter touchdowns at the start of their 36-10 victory.

It looks a different story tonight.

  15. Kicking contestpublished at 01:46 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Big Ben RoethlisbergerImage source, Getty Images

The punters are getting plenty of action at Arrowhead with yet more good defence forcing yet another kick.

Not really Roethlisberger's fault that time as Diontae Johnson drops a simple catch on a quick slant.

  16. Mahomes picked off!published at 01:42 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

No! Incredibly on the first play Patrick Mahomes is picked off by Devin Bush but it's all down to TJ Watt, who jumps up and bats the pass up into the air for Bush to grab it.

Big Ben may not have much left in the tank but Pittsburgh's defence has come to pay tonight.

  17. Great returnpublished at 01:40 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Mecole Hardman shows a lovely turn of speed to return the punt 48 yards to the Pittsburgh 22 and set up Patrick Mahomes with a really short field to work with.

    Must be points here, surely?

  18. Big Ben sackedpublished at 01:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Roethlisberger is dropped and, guess what, we get to see another punt...

  19. Another puntpublished at 01:38 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes wanted to go for it on fourth and one, and you'd usually expect Andy Reid to roll the dice there, but he decides to go for the punt.

  20. Defence on toppublished at 01:28 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Ben Roethlisberger is miles off on his third down throw and that's three quick drives on the spin with not much doing as defences have been well on top.

Nothing unusual in that for a play-off game.
