The Chiefs had just made it into field goal range but a sack for a 10-yard loss on Mahomes has forced them back out of range again and there's only 30 seconds left on the clock.

Demarcus Robinson takes in a 27-yard catch but what a throw that is from Mahomes, and the run, with hardly any wind up it's just a flick of the wrist but it has some heat on it.

We take a pause there with the Chiefs driving but staring down a third and seven when we return.

They're on the Pittsburgh 15 so a field goal is almost assured here, but they'll be going for the TD obviously.

Travis Kelce wriggles free and shows how dangerous he is in the open field with a 31-yard gain to get KC moving again.

Kelce's speed is a real danger when he catches those passes down the middle as linebackers mostly can't live with him.

Both of the Chiefs' star targets have been slowed by injuries and Covid of late and they don't look 100%, but their team needs them right now.

Well the Pittsburgh offence hasn't looked capable of scoring so their defence has shown them the way.

Quite apt the way this game has started that it's a defensive score that puts Pittsburgh in front.

Well, we had three minutes or so without a punt so we were due one, and right on schedule Pittsburgh kick it away again, putting the Chiefs back inside their own 20.

It's not pretty, but this is exactly the game the Steelers have to play to try and pinch this one. At some stage though you'd imagine Mahomes makes something happen.

It's hardly a secret that Roethlisberger doesn't have the zip in his arm anymore, but even without that juice on the ball he can still move it with these short passes.

Fittingly the quarter ends with a punt and that's about as good a defensive performance as you'll see against this Chiefs side.

Unlike underdogs such as the Patriots and Eagles, the Steelers are doing everything right to stay in the game - they've limited Mahomes and got the one turnover.

Tough game so far.

At this time in their last meeting this season the Chiefs were already 14-0 up after two first quarter touchdowns at the start of their 36-10 victory.

The punters are getting plenty of action at Arrowhead with yet more good defence forcing yet another kick.

No! Incredibly on the first play Patrick Mahomes is picked off by Devin Bush but it's all down to TJ Watt, who jumps up and bats the pass up into the air for Bush to grab it.

Big Ben may not have much left in the tank but Pittsburgh's defence has come to pay tonight.

Mecole Hardman shows a lovely turn of speed to return the punt 48 yards to the Pittsburgh 22 and set up Patrick Mahomes with a really short field to work with.

Patrick Mahomes wanted to go for it on fourth and one, and you'd usually expect Andy Reid to roll the dice there, but he decides to go for the punt.

Ben Roethlisberger is miles off on his third down throw and that's three quick drives on the spin with not much doing as defences have been well on top.

Nothing unusual in that for a play-off game.
