There's still so much more potential to come from Kat. It's just incredibly frustrating. She'll be thinking 'Ahh...why me again?' Kat has to think long and hard about her progression. She's standing still at the moment.

  4. Will GB hit their medal target?published at 21:11 British Summer Time 6 August 2017

    Kelly Sotherton
Former British heptathlete on BBC Radio 5 live

We're supposed to have home advantage and the team will look at things they can do better. But it's a bit premature and we should have this conversation next weekend.

There are lots of great youngsters who could potentially use this home advantage and step up. We can't be too downbeat at the moment.

We have put so much pressure on the team and that hasn't been dealt with very well. The success of the championships - are they viewed on how many medals the team wins or how well we've hosted the championships? There's no balance.

Kat went for it, it was brave and really good to see her give it everything. She ended that race in such style and that's good because she'll have to do that year in year to win medals.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson collapses to the track, chest heaving. It was a gutsy run but she could not shake Anouk Vetter sufficiently.

    Kelly Sotherton
Former British heptathlete on BBC Radio 5 live

I think it's too much for KJT to do. She would have to be 100m in front and that's not going to happen. But I want to see Kat run well and run as if she can win a medal.

We are heading into the final event of the women's heptathlon and it is going to need an absolutely stonking run fromKaterina Johnson-Thompson if the Briton is going to claim a medal.

Sheneeds a 17-second advantage over Anouk Vetter of the Netherlands in the 800m to nick bronze and hope that fourth-placed Cuban Yorgelis Rodriguez does not produce something special.

KJT's personal best is only 10 seconds better than Vetter's over the distance.
