    The pentathletes are being welcomed out on track ahead of the 800m, their final event.

    Saga Vanninen leads the field, but the 800m is one of her weakest events and she only has a nine-point advantage over reigning champion Noor Vidts.

    Abigail Pawlett of Britain, currently eighth in the rankings, will aim for a strong finish.

    The American threw 22.51m with his fourth effort in the final - nearly half a metre ahead of the field.

    He stepped up a lot there Rusheen MacDonald, but Karsten Warholm controlled that.

    Warholm didn't want MacDonald going past him as he wants one of them preferred lanes.

    Warholm has such a long stride length and runners try to get out of the way of him and it makes it a little tricky for them.

    In case you missed it earlier, a trip for GB's Adam Fogg in the men's 1500m heats looked to have curtailed his chances as he crossed the line in sixth.

    However, he was later advanced to the final after it was decided he was unfairly impeded.

    He'll be back in action on Sunday.

    He was an athlete who came here on good form and believed in it. He never stressed about it at any moment - a very competent run, good strong form.

    GB's Laviai Nielsen, speaking to BBC Sport after qualifying for the 400m final tomorrow: "That was my goal, I wanted to do it a lot safer than that, but I am in.

    "I had no idea what happened in the first 200m but I felt good on the back straight and the crowd carried me through so I am glad.

    "I am going to get stuck in and go for it."

    It wasn't meant to happen and it has been an odd competition with a lot of failures.
