It was Elzan Bibic who stood on the back of Callum Elson, right down the back of his achilles.

Inevitably, when you see a fall then there is a lift in pace - a surge of adrenaline.

That looked like a really nasty one for GB's Callum Elson, who pulls up in his 1500m heat to gasps from the crowd and he looks in some discomfort.

    That's a real shame for the 25-year-old.

    Men's 1500m heats

The final heat of a bonkers men's 1500m has concluded.

Vincent Keter of Kenya wins the heat, and is joined in the final by American Hobbs Kessler and Geordie Beamish of New Zealand.

Replays show that Britain's Callum Elson was well and truly caught by Serbia's Elzan Bibic. A really nasty collision, and he's leaving on a wheelchair with blood coming from his ankle.

Morgan Lake getting the crowd involved, brilliant to watch. She just needed to hold the curve a little bit more for me.

Morgan Lake is not allowing the home crowd to relax here.

But she once again turns finger-biting into elation around the arena as she glides over with her final attempt at 1.92m!

Pacing around as she awaited her turn, she didn't allow the reaction to a fall in the 1500m distract her.

If she can win her first global medal after this start, it will be quite something.

Well, some breaking news coming to us now.

Britain's Adam Fogg, who was tripped in the opening stages of his 1500m heat and ultimately finished sixth, has been advanced to the final as it has been decided he was unfairly impeded.

A huge and welcome reprieve for the Brit!

    Men's 1500m heats

GB's Adam Fogg, speaking to BBC Sport after finishing sixth in his 1500m heat: "This sport is brutal and I've hit the deck a few times, but when you hit the deck you don’t want it to happen in your first track Indoor World Championships.

"In the first steps I thought I was going to be in a good spot. I went down pretty hard and my shoulder is pretty sore, my hip feels sore, but it is the way it goes.

"The adrenaline got to me, but after you fall down like that you are swamped and you feel worn out straight away - I tried to pull it together, but there is nothing you can really do.

"You hear stories of of people falling and getting through, who knows? I might, we will see.

"I have never not finished a race and I don’t want to start that, this crowd is brilliant and it's great to be running at a home championships.

"Obviously I am not from Scotland, but it's nice to be in the UK."

    Men's shot put final

Come on, keep up, we have another gold medal event to start. The men's shot put finalists are out in the arena.

American Ryan Crouser is the ultimate human cannon but he’s yet to strike gold at a World Indoor Championships. The Olympic and double outdoor world champion threw a championship record in Belgrade two years ago but was eventually beaten by Darlan Romani of Brazil.

In Crouser’s only competition prior to Glasgow, he won the US indoor title with an almighty 22.80m, just two centimetres shy of the world indoor record he set in 2021.

Romani arrives in Glasgow with a relatively modest season’s best of 21.10m but is one of 10 men in the field with a PB beyond 22m.

Leonard Fabbri took silver behind Crouser at last year’s World Championships in Budapest and the Italian has started 2024 with a national indoor record of 22.37m.

Look out too for two-time indoor champion Tom Walsh of New Zealand and Rajindra Campbell, who set a Jamaican indoor record of 22.16m to win in Madrid last weekend.

Britain’s Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Scott Lincoln has been in the winter form of his life, topped by a 21.01m indoor PB four weeks ago.

    Phew!

Over 1.88m at the last attempt, Morgan Lake lives to fight on at another height.

The crowd really got behind her there, and they're going to be needed again when the British athlete takes a run at 1.92m.

It hasn't been the smoothest of starts, but she delivers when she must to stay in contention.
