Tyson Fury is back and back with a win, but there will be bigger and better nights for him in the future.

After four rounds, opponent Sefer Seferi is pulled out by his corner for a rather unsatisfying end to the evening.

But, no matter what, Fury is back!

Tyson Fury's return to boxing after a 32-month absence ended in farcical fashion when opponent Sefer Seferi was pulled out of the contest after four rounds at Manchester Arena.

Former world champion Fury had danced his way to the ring and spent the opening two rounds posturing, with little action in the ring.

After a ringside fight caused a distraction, the Briton - who was warned for a lack of activity in the second round - began to punch with more menace, landing a solid right hook to the temple.

That was as intense as it got, and when Seferi's camp brought an end to the bout, some fans threw objects from the stands.

Fury's return ended 924 days of inactivity following his stunning win over Wladimir Klitschko to land the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles. Among those present at ringside were celebrities such as former footballer Paul Gascoigne and chef Gordon Ramsay.

But when Fury's music played after the fourth round, the mood turned hollow as a crowd of about 15,000 emptied.

  3. 'I will take my career very seriously'published at 23:36 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Tyson Fury beats Sefer Seferi

Tyson Fury on BT Sport: "I am sure Frank (Warren) will keep me busy and the calibre of the opponents will keep rising. I will have a world title by the end of the year, that's a promise. I will be better next time.

"Two and a half years is a long time, I'm just happy to be back I will take my career very seriously and I will enjoy myself. I'm straight back in the gym on Monday and we start again to be ready for the Belfast show."

Matt: I'd be mortified if I'd had to pay Box Office for that. If that's boxing, I might have a go myself!

Marcus: What on earth did I just watch...? The best punch thrown in that bout came in the crowd.

Ed Baxendale: What a disgraceful rip off of paying fans. Boxer, boxer's team and their media team should be ashamed. Wake up. Fury is bad news, not good.

  5. 'There will have been nerves for Fury'published at 23:31 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    David Price
Former British heavyweight champion on Radio 5 live

It will have taken a bit of getting used to for Tyson Fury - being in the media spotlight again. And for all his laughing, and joking, he will have known this was a big occasion for him, and there will have been some nerves.

Steve: Total disgrace. Utter waste of time. The punches should be given refunds. Very very unimpressed.

Phil: I like Fury as a character but I have no idea why people think he'd beat Joshua or Wilder. Watched the Fury v Klitschko fight again. Klitschko barely throws a punch. No way either Wilder or Joshua would be so cautious and Fury isn't that hard to hit or durable like Parker.

  7. 'I'd throw my name in the hat'published at 23:27 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    David Price
Former British heavyweight champion on Radio 5 live

I think Tyson Fury would beat Manuel Charr (who beat Seferi in September 2016) - tonight he would have beaten him. He always finds a way to win, in every fight.

Manuel Charr isn't out of the question, but they may prefer to build him up slowly, until he's ready for a Anthony Joshua bout. I'd even throw my own name in the hat - I think a fight between me and Fury would create a lot of interest.

  8. Bring on the next one - Furypublished at 23:24 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    BBC Radio 5 live

Tyson Fury speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "I enjoyed all the pre-match media and all the interviews, so I was happy to be out there again, bring on the next one."

When are you next in the ring? "I'm out in Belfast in August so I can't wait for that - I felt good today, I felt fit, I didn't feel sluggish, so even if I take another stone off I'll just be even better, and taking a stone off is pretty easy - that's just sleeping a few nights."

When will you be ready to fight Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder? "Very soon, as soon as Frank [Warren] makes the fight I'm there, as soon as they're ready I'm there, I just want to keep busy, my career's been on hold so i just want to keep busy now."

  9. 'Public are behind Fury'published at 23:22 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Jamie Moore
Boxing trainer on BBC Radio 5 live

It was a fantastic ovation for Tyson Fury when he came to the ring, and I think he's the type of character who needs that. He's been vilified in the past - rightly or wrongly - so he'll be really happy to know the public are behind him.

OHAT: Completely Mickey Mouse. Exactly what most people thought the fight would be - no wonder he chose Seferi as his opponent; the paying fans must feel short-changed.

Mac: Cringing for Fury, who seems to think he has achieved something tonight.

Wrighty: Tyson Fury is back. Still the hype but way, way short of anything that could live with AJ and Wilder...

  11. 'A good little comeback' - Furypublished at 23:18 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    BBC Radio 5 live

Tyson Fury speaking on BBC Radio 5 live: "I thought it was a good little comeback after so long out of the ring. He didn't come here to fight, he came to move around and avoid me. He was awkward because he was shorter than me.

"I think it was a very successful comeback to be honest, and I really enjoyed it, as you can see. I was just getting into my rhythm when they pulled him out, I didn't quite get him, just a couple of glances, but he's a lot smaller than me so I can see why they pulled him out.

"You can't really go off tonight, I was happy with it, and I've come back after a long time out with a win - how many heavyweights do you see come back and get chinned? I didn't want that to happen to me, and it didn't."

  12. Fury v Bellew later this year?published at 23:17 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

Some more from promoter Frank Warren on what is next for Tyson Fury. Warren tells BT Sport: "Anthony Joshua is fighting Alexander Povetkin that is going on in September or October so he won't be available to fight until next year. Deontay Wilder is fighting a mandatory so he won't be available until next year.

"Tony Bellew is someone we would go for before the end of the year, no problem. I don't think (2016 Olympic Games silver medallist) Joe Joyce wants to be put in with Tyson Fury, he has only had four (professional) fights."

  13. 'It was a show rather than a fight'published at 23:14 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Jamie Moore
Boxing trainer on BBC Radio 5 live

If I was in Tyson Fury's camp I would be asking for a better opponent, someone who is less capable, a bigger guy who will have a go. Fury is tough to judge on that performance, it was a show rather than a fight.

  14. Fury back out on 18 Augustpublished at 23:13 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

Promoter Frank Warren on BT Sport: "He'll be back for the Carl Frampton show in Belfast on 18 August. He (Fury) is still a bit rusty and has a bit of weight to lose but he's getting there.

"The name of the game is to find three or four opponents and keep getting the rust out of his system and by the end of the year to get a big fight.

"I am disappointed Sefer retired because Tyson needs the rounds but the objective is to get him a world title fight as soon as possible."

And let's hear from Tyson Fury. He tells BT Sport: "It felt fantastic, I want to say thank you to the fans, you showed support.

"It meant miracles (to be back in the ring). Sefer is a very tough guy he started to move around, I wanted to fight with him and it was not my fault the referee pulled him out.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me. It has been a long time out of the ring, I was not in a rush, taking time when I started to get going, they pulled him out.

"Frank (Warren) is going to keep me busy and I will have a world title by the end of the year. Train hard, eat well and I will be better next time."

  16. 'Fury so comfortable in the ring'published at 23:11 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    David Price
Former British heavyweight champion on Radio 5 live

Tyson Fury is a natural fighter, and when he's in the ring he's so comfortable. Fury doesn't have much of a highlights reel - unlike Anthony Joshua - but to the boxing purists, we know how good he is. Fury is particularly good at making his opponent look bad.

I can never remember people being blown away by Tyson Fury, but he always finds a way to win, he always has done. I think whoever you put in front of him, it's tough to bet against him.

  17. 'Fury would be more switched on against a better opponent'published at 23:07 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Jamie Moore
Boxing trainer on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Tyson Fury would be better, more switched on, if he was up against someone he respected more. Someone he knew could hurt him. He'll be pleased to get this one out of the way though.

  18. 'Seferi didn't offer a lot'published at 23:03 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Tyson Fury beats Sefer Seferi

    David Price
Former British heavyweight champion on Radio 5 live

Sometimes a smaller opponent can work against you because they're smaller and more compact, so they're harder to open up, but Sefer Seferi didn't really offer a lot tonight.

  19. Postpublished at 23:03 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

A few boos ringing around the Manchester Arena. Few punches landed, a bit of dancing, nothing at all landing from Sefer Seferi, who takes a few and gets himself out of there.

Maybe not the best night for the sport of boxing that one.

  20. 'Fury needs to lose more weight'published at 23:02 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Tyson Fury beats Sefer Seferi

    David Price
Former British heavyweight champion on Radio 5 live

What we've seen there is that Tyson Fury needs to lose more weight - 15 or 20lbs - because he looked very slow on his feet tonight.
