WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder speaks to BT Sport: "What brings me here is I'm looking forward to trying to get the fight set with Tyson Fury. This is the main thing. I'm also looking forward to seeing some of Carl Frampton too.

"Ever since I came here getting on the plane, the airport, 3am last night and and waking up at 8am today I've had nothing but love from Belfast.

"The UK is always amazing. I always said you guys have some of the best fans in the world. Every time I come here it proves me right. There is no doubt yo have some of the best fans in the world.

"As a fighter to see fans gravitate to you, running after your car or waiting for hours to see you, it makes me feel great so I have nothing but love for you guys."

  4. Never mind Fury, Wilder has bigger problems..published at 20:59 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

We mentioned Gazza joking around with Deontay Wilder, and watch below as Gazza lands cleanly on Wilder's chin.

To be fair to the champ, he took the punch well. Cast iron chin.

Tyson needs to be more serious tonight. I think last time it was a bit farcical but Pianeta will bring a bit more out of him.

The Wilder fight will be a treat for boxing fans that two of the biggest heavyweight fights in the world will involve British fighters in Joshua facing Alexander Povetkin and Fury-Wilder.

During the fight, Povetkin-Wilder is more exciting but as an entertainment package, the personalities and for all that will come before the bout, people would probably rather see Fury v Wilder.

Boxing promoters are strangely good at finding ways to sell things and as if by magic, Tyson Fury's bout got a little nudge yesterday when Deontay Wilder categorically told BBC Sport he will "definitely" face Fury should the Englishman win tonight.

Wilder - ringside tonight - has 40 wins from as many fights, so boy would he be hard work. And interestingly, while they may try to spin up a rivalry, these two seem to like one another.

Trawl back through interviews and you'll often hear Wilder stating Fury is great for boxing, while the Briton was vocal in championing what his American rival should receive financially if he had faced Anthony Joshua.

Something tells me the build up to this one could be somewhat entertaining.

  7. 'The champ is going to take out Tyson Fury'published at 20:49 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Fury v Pianeta

So Tyson Fury danced and somewhat farcically got himself an easy win on his return to the ring in June.

Opponent Sefer Seferi, who is only 6ft compared to Fury at 6ft 8in, was pulled out of the contest after four rounds at Manchester Arena after hardly landing a punch.

But there was a somewhat carnival atmosphere at the Manchester Arena that night. Tonight though, you'd expect him to be a touch more serious given what's at stake.

Deontay Wilder has spilled the beans. If Fury's on it tonight, we are all very much on for a showdown in America before Christmas. Click play below to hear 'the Bronze Bomber' explain.

  8. Gazza v Wilderpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Gascoigne and WilderImage source, Reuters

Things you don't expect to see.

Paul Gascoigne joking around and throwing some mock punches with Deontay Wilder. All good natured and in good spirits. The big man isn't paying attention and Gazza throws a left hook to the chin.

Only joking around. Probably a good job for Gazza that Wilder laughed. Not a man to make angry.

Deontay Wilder and his considerable entourage just took a little gander around the inside of the stadium.

It wasn't so much a lap of honour as it was a lap of provocation. He was met with boos aplenty and a few hundred rushed towards him in what I assume was a failed attempt to get a selfie with the WBC world heavyweight champ.

I didn't see any poultry getting thrown though, so I guess that counts as progress.

  10. Duck for Billy Joe's chickenpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Fury v Wilder

    A roast chicken

One slight footnote to proceedings tonight regards Billy Joe Saunders. The WBO world middleweight champion lit up social media late on Friday by apparently throwing chicken at Deontay Wilder and his entourage, external at a well-known high street chicken restaurant.

Today, Saunders has described the incident as "fun and games" and says he will take a "pack" of mates to Windsor Park tonight to ward off the Wilder clan.

In other news, he says he will get a "real good job done" on Demetrius Andrade in Boston in October, where his title will be on the line in what will be his first bout since December.

Get Involved #bbcboxingpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

Who wins? Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder?

Jon‏: Wilder 100%, absolutely no contest. Fury would get knocked out and be overwhelmed by Wilders crazy punches. Fury just not ready. He's only taking the fight because people were starting to forget about him with all the Joshua/Wilder talk.

Taking a walk round the concourse before heading in it became very clear, as if I needed clarity, that Frampton and Barnes are not the only show in town.

Tyson Fury has most certainly left his own unmistakable imprint on fight week in Belfast. From a rendition of Sweet Caroline to some rather loud chit chat with a certain Deontay Wilder, Fury has made his presence felt.

He brings with him his own vocal following and assuming he gets the job done against Pianeta, one feels it might get deafeningly loud if Wilder steps into the ring post-fight.

  13. Ready for a Fury show?published at 20:26 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Fury v Pianeta

That frustrating, heartbreaking end for Paddy Barnes means we will have Tyson Fury in the ring perhaps sooner than we think. He's warming up by shadow boxing in his dressing room and could be out in the thick of it in half and hour or so. Is tonight the night where this comeback gathers momentum and where all roads point to America and a certain Alabama fighter?

  14. 'A massive opportunity'published at 20:24 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Rosales beats Barnes

Former British heavyweight champion on Radio 5 live

Paddy Barnes will be disappointed it was a massive opportunity in front of his own fans. He will not regret taking the fight, he will learn from it.

The sooner he gets back in the ring the better. After a devastating loss you need to get back in the ring as soon as possible.

  15. 'Can't fight a punch like that'published at 20:23 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

Paddy Barnes will have to come again. This will be devastating for him, this is his city, he is a proud Belfast man so to get stopped in his home city, he will be reminded of that wherever he goes.

He is a robust character and someone who can come back from this loss, but he has to show what he is made of, get a few wins and come back as a world title challenger.

He was stopped by a punch that would've stopped any fighter, he was caught with a very good punch to the body and when that happens there is not much you can do.

  16. Dreams turn to nightmarepublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Rosales beats Barnes

That's a cruel, cruel blow for Paddy Barnes. His dreams of fighting in his home city for a world title came true but there's a nightmare weaved in there too. His first six professional fights have taught him plenty but it's hard to legislate for a punch like that. All the amateur medals, the Olympic Games experience and years of graft can be undone with one drilled missile to the abdomen.

    He will be distraught.

    Barnes v Rosales

    Mike Costello
BBC Sport boxing correspondent on Radio 5 live

You could feel that right hand sinking into the Belfast bodies. There was absolutely no chance of Barnes getting up and that can be what happens when you step up in grade. That punch was pin-point accuracy. He landed that as if there was a cross drawn on Barnes' stomach.

  18. 'You can't breathe'published at 20:15 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Andy Lee
    Former middleweight world champion

As he was throwing the left hook, Rosales threw his right and there was no way he was getting up. For that instant you can't breathe, your feet are gone, it was a devastating punch.

Paddy was getting some control, he showed he does maybe belong at this level so it wasn't a mistake taking this fight but it was a big step up. Once you get hit in the solar plexes, there is no way coming back from that.

  19. Round four - Rosales stops Barnespublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Barnes v Rosales

Paddy Barnes rolls around on the canvas late in what was a positive round. The count comes, he's in all sorts of trouble, no hint of him trying to find his feet at all, this is true pain and it's going to be all over... it is.

The dream is over. It is taken away by a crisp right hand to the body. Savage.

  20. Round four - Barnes in huge troublepublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Barnes v Rosales

    BarnesImage source, Reuters

A straight right from Paddy Barnes, a left hook, then a hook with each hand, he's landing but so is his rival who just walks forward intent on war. As the round progresses Barnes is sharper, beating his man to the punch smartly but he's countered from nowhere and is in huge, huge trouble suddenly with seconds of the fourth left...
