A lot of the body shots that Triple G would've been seen as blocked but it's a shame Triple G didn't get the win tonight.

I guess you have to bring a lot more than your hand to win a fight.

  2. 'I'm very emotional'published at 05:15 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez beats Golovkin

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez speaks to broadcasters in the ring: "My corner told me that I needed to win the round [final round] and that what’s I did.

"I’m very emotional. That’s what I did. I promised the people I would go for a knockout. He’s a very good fighter. I did this for Mexico.

"Again he was connecting punches but they were few and far between. He’s a great opponent but every fighter depends on the fighter. Every great fighter has a great rival."

    Rematch?

"If the people want another fight then we’ll do it again. We’ll do it, no doubt."

Gennady Golovkin walks away to the changing rooms and will not be speaking in the ring. He looks truly disgusted.

I didn't see it that way but that gave us a great fight. Canelo came and he shown up and the judges gave it to him.

A famous victory for Canelo on Mexican independence day. Golovkin is beaten for the first time in 40 fights. Saul Alvarez hold his finger to his mouth to silence the doubters.

We're almost certain to see a trilogy.

Both men stand in the ring and await the verdict. What a fight. The music plays loudly and well it might. Let's all have a Sunday morning party as that was enough to set you up for a week.Brilliant stuff.

Security are having to keep the two teams apart. Emotions are running high. This will go to the judges. How will they score this? But me and Demetrius have got a Golovkin win at ringside.

I've given it to Golovkin. But our pundits have more next...

Brilliant work from both men. There is no question that this fight is better than the first one.

  14. Round 12published at 05:03 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Canelo III

A right uppercut lands with eight seconds to go. Great shot from Golovkin. A second remains and he lands another uppercut.

There's the bell. What a fight, what a contest, they embrace, respect and then Golovkin raises his hand.

Wow, just wow. Alvarez is on the ropes, raising his right hand.

  15. Round 12published at 05:02 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Alvarez is down but it's a slip with a minute of the 12th on the clock. My word this is unbelievable as they swing, they trade like merchants on a Christmas market, no time to stand and admire, it's attack after attack.

Ninety seconds to go, work rate, work rate, work rate. A minute to go and a right to the body followed by a left to the face lands from Canelo.... 30 seconds to go...

Canelo got frustrated and you can tell by his defence but Triple G is out-doing him with the jab.

  17. Round 11published at 04:58 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Canelo's stint on the ropes didn't work so he walks forward again and he eats a huge left hook. Seconds to go, four shots thrown by Triple G but none land. He's throwing twice the number of shots as his rival right now though and surely, surely, he is ahead on the cards.

    To the final round...

  18. Round 11published at 04:57 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

We go into the penultimate round. Again it looks like Canelo is changing his plan as he heads to the ropes. He's boxed at range, boxed up close and now elects to sit back.

And he's paying for it as Gennady Golovkin is going after him an unloading. It's like the first fight again. This is gripping, you cannot take your eyes off it. Two brilliant, brilliant fighters serving it up for you on a Sunday morning. Soak it up one and all, soak it up... Canelo is...

That was very strong round for Golovkin from start to finish. You cannot deny him that one. But it still could go any way with two rounds to go.

  20. Round 10published at 04:55 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Golovkin's eyes are crazed. The focus in them is villain like. He looks so intent on causing damage they should paint that face on industrial wrecking balls.

Late in the round another left-right lands heavily. Possibly for the first time we saw Canelo hurt there. The right hand briefly left the Mexican limp before his legs kicked back in again.
